A meet the candidates for MPP (Sault Ste. Marie) event is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 in Sault Ste. Marie. The focus of the meeting will be on issues of concern to seniors, including health care, long term care, housing and climate change.
The two groups hosting the event are as follows: the Algoma Branch of the National Association of Federal Retirees (NAFR) and District 3 Algoma RTOERO (formerly the Retired Teachers’ of Ontario).
Candidates from the four major parties have been invited to attend. There will be approximately one hour of predetermined questions of particular interest to seniors. The opportunity to pose questions from the audience will occur for about 15 minutes, followed by closing remarks from each candidate present.
The general public is invited to attend in order to further inform their vote on election day, Thursday, Feb. 27.
District 3 Algoma RTOERO represents over 1,100 members retired from the education community. Together the two seniors’ groups represent more than 1,400 voters in Algoma.
