Crews from Bartlett's towing worked for a large portion of the day trying to pull out a submerged blue four-door Subaru vehicle from the depths of Trout Lake in North Bay.
The Police say a vehicle traveling down Lees Road went across the T-intersection at Trout Lake Road, through the guard rails, and into a deep portion of Trout Lake near the shoreline nestled on the bottom of the lake between two sets of docks.
Police say the male driver was able to get to shore safely after the car went into the lake. No braking skid marks could be noticed near the accident scene.
"It appears the vehicle was travelling down Lees Road crossed Trout Lake and entered the water," said Inspector Jeff Warner, from the North Bay Police Service.
He was taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police clarify the original call came in around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday night but Police arrived on the scene to begin the vehicle extrication process around 5 a.m. on Monday.
Witness Deb Johnson reached out to Village Media as she lives very close to where the bizarre accident occurred.
"We live on Trout Lake and can see Lee’s rd. and last night at approximately 11:30 pm we heard a loud crash sound at Lee’s Rd," she told BayToday in an email.
"We couldn’t see much as it was dark, heard some shouting. Then saw a car pulled on the shoulder with hazard lights on."
Bartlett's towing used magnets and cameras to try and get their towing lines properly connected to the vehicle.
At around 3:30 p.m. the crews finally pulled the blue vehicle out of the lake and onto the shore.
Police are still investigating and no word yet if the driver is facing any charges.
