Northern Ontario woman and her dog featured on 'America's Got Talent'

'This was better than some of the human dancers we've had on' - Simon Cowell

North Bay's Sara Carson and her dog Hero performed their strongest show yet in last night's America's Got Talent and the four judges responded with enthusiastic praise.

Using a Tomb Raider-type theme, Sara and Hero wowed the audience with a new mix of tricks, including Hero holding one end of a skipping rope while another Carson dog, Loki, performed a flawless jump rope routine.

"This is what people love," said judge Howie Mandel. "We sense the love for your dogs. We sense your professionalism and America loves dogs, they love you."

"You just make me smile," added Mel B.

But the highest praise came from Simon Cowell.

"I love dogs and I've loved you from the moment you came on. You've got better. Let me just tell you something. This was better than some of the human dancers we've had on, that's how good it was. You are an absolute little star. I love your story. You deserve your place here. You one billion per cent deserve to be in the final."

Appealing to the audience, Cowell pleaded, "I'm going to ask every human, every dog, every cat in this country to pick up the phone and vote this act into the semi-finals."

She won't have to wait long.

The fate of Sara and her dogs will be decided on tonight's show on NBC, 8 p.m.
