18-year-old charged after shooting cross bow, damaging property

Police say the young man damaged lawn equipment, shot property with a cross bow and arrows within city limits, and ripped up flooring last summer

Sault Police officers charged an 18-year-old after someone caused damage to a property in the 0-100 block of Amherst Street.

Police say the young man damaged lawn equipment, shot property with a cross bow and arrows within city limits, and ripped up flooring on Aug. 19, 2024. 

A warrant was obtained for his arrest.

On Sunday, officers were attending an unrelated call when they arrested the accused under the strength of outstanding warrants.

The accused is charged with:

  • Failure to Comply with Sentence (under the Youth Criminal Justice Act) x 2
  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking
  • Mischief – Over $5,000
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police did not name him since he was a minor when they say he committed these acts.
