Sault Police say a man high on drugs smashed his vehicle into a house on McNabb Street early Thursday morning, causing “significant damage” to the home.
The 911 call came in around 3 a.m. on May 9.
“Another vehicle had also been damaged nearby,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “No physical injuries were sustained by the victim inside the home.”
Police say the driver, who was still inside the vehicle, appeared to be impaired by drugs — but he refused to have a blood sample taken.
Richard Kelly, 23, was arrested and charged with:
- Dangerous Operation
- Operation While Impaired – Drug and/or Alcohol
- Failure/Refusal to Comply with Demand
He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled back in court on July 8.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Kelly is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
