A roadside memorial has appeared at the site of a fatal collision that occurred early Sunday.

Police are asking drivers to be extra cautious in the area of Third Line West and Goulais Avenue.

Sault Ste. Marie Police say there is increased traffic as community members visit a roadside memorial.

An early Easter Sunday crash between a pickup truck and an e-bike at that location killed a 15-year-old boy and seriously injured another.

Police say at around 1 a.m., an 18-year-old was driving the pickup truck northbound on Goulais Avenue. When the driver attempted to turn left onto Third Line West, the truck hit the e-bike, which was travelling south on Goulais.

The driver of the pickup truck is facing several charges, including impaired driving and careless driving.

Pedestrians and cyclists are also asked to be careful near the memorial, which is set up just a few hundred metres north of Korah Collegiate & Vocational School.

“Your attentiveness will help ensure the safety and well-being of everyone paying their respects or passing by,” police said in a news release.
