Male Arrested on Outstanding Warrant
On the 15 August at 3:52 am a 37 year-old male was arrested on Euclid Avenue on an outstanding warrant regarding a domestic related offence and charged with one count of breach of a release document, one count of obstruct peace officer and one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. It is alleged that on the 15th of August at 3:52 am the accused was observed driving his vehicle in the area of Trelawne Avenue and at that time, officers were aware that the registered owner of the vehicle was wanted on an outstanding warrant and stopped the vehicle. The accused falsely identified himself and at the time of his arrest he was found to be in possession of a small amount of cocaine.
Family Dispute results in Youth Being Charged with Assault and d Weapon related Offences
A 16 year-old male youth was arrested on the 14th of August at 1 pm at his residence and charged with one count assault, one count of assault with a weapon, one count of threaten death or bodily harm and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 14th of August at approximately 11:30 am while at his residence, the accused got into a verbal argument with his mother’s boyfriend and spat on him three times. The accused then grabbed a pearing knife, pushed the male into the wall and held the knife towards him in a threatening manner. It is further alleged that the accused picked up a bat and made threats to use it on the victim. No injuries were reported.
Three Males Arrested For Impaired Driving
40 year-old Gilles Gosselin of 53 Angelina Avenue was arrested on the 14th of August at 8:30 pm at Canada Customs on Huron Street and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. It is alleged that on the 14th of August at approximately 8:25 pm the accused was driving a Dodge Stratus and was exiting from the International Bridge to the Canadian Customs check point area, when he drove his vehicle into the rear end of a Pontiac car that was breaking ahead of him stopping in the line-up. The accused was arrested by Customs Officers and police were notified. When officers attended they found the accused to be under the influence of alcohol. No injuries were reported and both vehicles received minor damage. He is to appear in court on the 15th of September.
44 year-old Kevin Stewart of 41A Central Creek Drive was arrested on the 14th of August at 9:31 pm on Cooper Street and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of fail to provide breath sample. It is alleged that on the 14th of August around 9:30 pm the accused was observed by city police operating his Dodge Pick up on Second Line West when he attempted to turn onto Cooper Street, the accused made a wide turn into the oncoming traffic lane. The vehicle continued on northbound on Cooper Street continuously swerving to the center of the road and back. City police stopped and checked the driver, the accused, and at the time he was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The accused refused to provide a breath sample at the police station. He is to appear in court on the 15th of September.
30 year-old Gerard Lavoie of 66 Coulson Avenue was arrested on the 15th of August at 12:26 am at Canada Customs and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. It is alleged that on the 15th of August at 12:25 am the accused was arrested by Canada Customs for impaired driving after being stopped and checked at the check point and found to be under the influence of alcohol. City police were notified and continued the arrest. He is to appear in court on the 15th of September.
Two Male Youths Charged after Shoplifting at Sport Check
Two brothers, age 16 and 13, were arrested just outside their centrally located residence and charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 14th of August at 8:30 pm the two attended at the Sport Check Store and each stole a pair of running shoes. Police were notified and investigated the incident and the two were later located arrested just outside their residence. At the time of their arrest they were wearing the stolen running shoes. They are to appear in court on the 16th of September.
Property Crimes & Theft Reports
Several vehicles were entered overnight the past two nights:
On Florwin Avenue - loose change and a lighter were reported stolen.
400 block of Douglas Street – a purse was stolen
200 block of Queen Street East – wallet and ID stolen
Vera Avenue – Vehicle ownership and a personal cheque were stolen
Garden Avenue – a radio stolen
100 block of Manitou Drive – loose change and a Shindo knife in a plastic case were stolen
Florwin Drive – wallet
City police are reminding the public to not leave any valuables, wallets, purses, etc., in their unattended vehicles at any time and make sure your vehicle is locked.
Mischief Reports
A vehicle tire was slashed sometime overnight on the 13th/14th in the 700 block of Wellington Street East
A vehicle parked on Alworth Place was damaged when someone put silicone over the door handles and the gas tank area.
A vehicle parked in the Plummer Hospital lot was damaged sometime between 7 am – 2 pm.
2 parking meters were damaged on Gore Street sometime overnight on the 13th/14th of August.
Youths playing a prank, rang the door bell of a residence on Hugill Street, ignited an empty case of beer with papers inside on fire and ran from the area. Officers checked the area, but could not locate anyone.
A door was damaged on a residence on Hudson Street when someone attempted to kick it in around 12:18 am this morning.
Break and Enter at Bruni’s Fine Foods
There was a break and enter reported to Bruni’s Fine Foods on Wellington Street West at approximately 4:30 am on the 14th of August. A Laptop and some pork roasts were reported stolen.
