DOMESTIC RELATED ASSAULT

A 37 year old male has been charged with one count of assault and will be appearing in court this morning. It is believed that on the 21st of August just before 8pm the accused became involved in a heated argument with his common law girlfriend in their west end home. The argument escalated and the accused assaulted the victim by grabbing the victims hand and hitting it and by pushing her several time. Police were called and the accused was taken into custody. The victim did not require medical attention.

DOMESTIC RELATED ASSAULT

A 35 year old male has been charged with 1 count of assault and will be appearing in court this morning. It is believed that just after 5am yesterday morning the accused assaulted his common law girlfriend by wrestling her to the ground and punching her several times in the face at their down town residence. Police were called and the accused was arrested. The victim received non-life threatening injuries.

WEAPON POSSESSION

A 17 year old young person has been charged with 1 count of unauthorized possession of a weapon. The accused was observed by Officers just after 1am this morning travelling on his bicycle on Trunk Road by Capp Avenue. The accused saw the Police and attempted to evade them. The accused was observed discarding a canister from his waist band. The accused was apprehended and found to be in possession of counter assault bear spray. He is scheduled for court on the 23rd of September.

BREAK AND ENTER AND ASSAULT

46 year old Diane Duguay of 664 Frontenac Street, 37 year old Stacey Robinson of 287 North Street, 42 year old Charles Charette also of 287 North Street and 47 year Ian Bruce McKinley of 634 Wellington Street East all broke into a downtown residence and assaulted the 2 people inside the residence. It is alleged that the two victims, 1 male and 1 female were known to the accused persons. Both victims were struck and beaten with a broken table leg and both received injuries requiring medical attention, but were not life threatening. It is believed that the assault took place because of an argument which occurred earlier in the evening.
All 4 accused have each been charged with 1 count of assault causing bodily harm, 1 count of assault with a weapon, and 1 count of break and enter. They are all scheduled to appear in court on the 29th of September.

VEHICLE THEFT

A 14 year old young person has been charged with 1 count of theft over $5000. It is believed that on the 16th of August just before midnight, the accused stole a 2003 GMC Pick up belonging to Rainone Construction. The vehicle was recovered the following day in the water of Garden River. The 14 year old male voluntarily turned himself into City Police yesterday afternoon. He is scheduled for court on the 23rd of September.

POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY

44 year old Daniel Greco of 613 Queen Street West has been charged with 2 counts of possession of stolen property and 1 count of breaching his release documents. It is believed that on the 25th of July the accused attended at Scrappie’s Salvage and sold 2 man hole covers which had been reported stolen. On the 30th of July the accused attended at Triple Metal Scrap yard and again sold two man hole covers that had previously been reported stolen. At the time of these offences the accused was on a probation order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. The accused is scheduled to attend court on the 29th of September.

SHOPLIFTERS

42 year old Darrell Lee Ojeebah of 3 Rosie Street, Chapleau Ontario and 32 year old September Silver Saunders of 319 Albert Street East Unit 2 have both been charged with 1 count each of theft under $5000. It is believed that on the 21st of August just before 7pm the 2 accused were observed by staff removing items off of shelves and placing them into a pack sack at Zellers at 293 Bay Street. They were apprehended and police attended. The value of the items came to over $200. They are both scheduled to attend court on the 22nd of September.

BREAK AND ENTERS

• Between 5:50 pm and 8:30 pm on the 20th of August someone broke into a residence on Prentice Avenue and stole jewellery.
• During the day time hours on the 21st of August someone broke into a residence on Portage Lane. It is unknown at this time what was taken.

MISCHIEFS

• A home window was smashed with a rock on Wellington Street West over night.
• A garage door was damaged on 4thLine east.
• A vehicle was scratched on Great Northern Road.
