Male arrested for possession of a substance: At approx. 11:50 pm last night the Sault Ste Marie Police Service “Street Team” and the Emergency Services Unit execute a search warrant at a residence on Birch St.
Male arrested for possession of a substance:

At approx. 11:50 pm last night the Sault Ste Marie Police Service “Street Team” and the Emergency Services Unit execute a search warrant at a residence on Birch St. Subsequent to the search a small amount of a substance believed to be cocaine and a variety of drug paraphernalia was located in the residence. Charged with one count of possession of a substance is Todd Petrie, age 45, of 101 Birch St. He will be appearing in court on Sept 15th at 9:00 am.

Break and Enter:

Yesterday morning city police were called to the Blessed Sacrament Church Office located at 267 Cathcart St. regarding a break and enter. A Toshiba laptop computer was reported stolen.

Public information on two suspicious males:

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service received a complaint yesterday afternoon of elderly lady possibly being followed by two males. The complainant reports that between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm yesterday a male, approx. 19 years of age, followed her about in the Hart Store in the Market Mall. The complainant reports that the male
was following her about the store and staying a close distance to her. The complainant found this behaviour strange especially when she attended the lady’s wear section. After making a purchase and leaving the store the same complainant was approached outside the mall by an older male that offered to carry her purchases to her vehicle. At this time the complainant noticed that the younger male was standing behind her. The complainant returned to the mall and contacted the city police. The two suspicious males are described as:
1. Male, white 19 years of age, shoulder length brown hair, wearing a black ball cap and a black shirt.
2. Male, white, approx. 50 years of age, medium build, salt and pepper coloured hair. (Black/ grey)
It is believed that the males were trying to steal the victim’s purse.

Notice to the public:

The city Board of Works and the Sault Ste Marie Police Service have been receiving several reports of vehicles attending at the Fifth Line Municipal Waste Disposal Site with insecure loads. Residents in the area are complaining that garbage is falling off trucks and trailers and ending up on the roads. Not only is this an inconvenience to residents but it can also be very dangerous for motorists. It is also an offence under the Highway Traffic Act. Please take the extra few minutes to secure your load by tying it down and or placing a tarp over the load. Thank you for your assistance.
