Robbery Early this morning alert patrol officers were able to solve a robbery of a male victim within a very short period of time. Just before 2:30 am this morning a male victim called 911 and reported that he had been robbed.

Early this morning alert patrol officers were able to solve a robbery of a male victim within a very short period of time. Just before 2:30 am this morning a male victim called 911 and reported that he had been robbed. The incident occurred in the downtown area. It is alleged that the accused assaulted the 58-year old male victim and stole an undisclosed amount of money. The victim was taken to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Officers immediately attended in the area and just after 2:50 am a 24-year old male was taken into custody. While in custody it is alleged that the accused assaulted a police officer at the station by throwing his shirt in the face of the officer. 24-year old Christopher Moar of 222 Albert Street East has been charged with one count of robbery and one count of assault police officer. He will appear in bail court this morning.

Police Catch Burgler

Excellent team work between a citizen and officers from Patrol Services and Investigation Services lead to the arrest of a 19-year old male yesterday afternoon. It is alleged that on the 27th of July just before 1 pm the accused attended at an address on Manor Drive, broke into the home and took several pieces of jewellery. A witness in the area contacted City Police on 911 and stayed on the phone until officers arrived. Officers secured the immediate area around the home and arrested the male as he exited the residence. 19-year old Ryan Harris of 4-120 Church Street has been charged with one count of break and enter and commit an offence. He will appear in bail court this morning.

38 Yr Old Charged With Assault

A 38-year old male will also appear in bail court this morning. It is alleged that in November 2005 the accused assaulted his estranged wife by grabbing her and throwing her against a truck. The victim received non-life threatening injuries in this incident. It is further alleged that in May 2006 the accused grabbed the victim and pushed her into a brick wall. It is further alleged that between January and June of 2006 the accused assaulted the victim by grabbing her by the arm and shaking his fist at her. The accused has been charged with two counts of assault and one count of assault with a weapon.

14 Yr Old Charged With Assault With A Weapon

A 14-year old youth was arrested last evening and charged with one count of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that the youth pulled a pocketknife on another youth and threatened the youth. It is further alleged that the accused kicked the victim. The incident occurred outside in the City’s west end. The accused will appear in bail court this morning.

Mischief Under $5000

A 21-year old female will appear in court on September 11th after being arrested and charged last night with one count of mischief under $5,000. It is alleged that the female got into a verbal argument with her ex-boyfriend and damaged his truck by kicking it. The incident occurred in the central area of town yesterday afternoon.

Fire On Prentice

Last evening just before 9 pm officers from Patrol Services attended on Prentice Avenue and provided assistance to Sault Fire Services who were dealing with a house fire. Officers closed the street down to traffic in the area for approximately an hour and a half.

Break & Enter

City Police received a number of reports of break and enters yesterday:

1) Between July 25th and July 27th thieves broke into a home on Panoramic Drive and stole a laptop and a DVD player.

2) Sometime within the last week a home on Carufel Avenue was broken into and a TV, VCR and several tools were taken.

3) Sometime between 10:30 am and 5 pm yesterday a residence on Algoma Avenue was broken into and a small quantity of change was taken as well as tobacco.

4) Last evening a homeowner on Victoria Avenue reported that their garage had been broken into and two golf bags were taken.

5) Last evening a homeowner reported that thieves had attempted to break into their garage on Upton Road but were not successful.
