The following four persons will be appearing in bail court this morning:

1) On the 14th of June at 11:25 am officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit, which is comprised of members of the OPP Drug Enforcement Section, the Sault Ste Marie Police Service, the RCMP and the OPP North East Region, executed a search warrant at 355 Ironside Drive. Officers discovered that there was a grow operation in the residence where marihuana was being produced. Officers located 22 marihuana plants, 5 grams of dried cannabis marihuana, 1000 grams of cannabis marihuana shake, various grow equipment and a digital scale. The estimated street value of drugs seized was $22,600.00. Officers also located a double barrel 12 guage shotgun that was carelessly stored and discovered that the accused in this incident did not have authorization to possess this firearm. 49 year-old Ronald Albert of 355 Ironside Drive was arrested and has been charged with one count of production of a controlled drug or substance, two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a firearm knowing possession unauthorized and one count of careless use or storage of a firearm, breach of regulations.

2) On the 14th of June around 12:25 pm Richard Marini, age 42 of 232 Lonsa Street in Cornwall Ontario, was arrested on Pim Street on an outstanding Federal Parole Warrant. It is alleged that city police checked a vehicle in the 400 block of Pim Street and located the accused person inside. One of the officers recognized the accused and was aware that there was a Federal Parole Revocation Warrant for him. The accused was transported to the police station and when he was being booked in it is alleged that the accused became very confrontational and aggressive with the police officers that were booking him. The accused resisted the police by continuously pulling away and struggling with them and as a result he was charged with one count of resist peace officer.

3) A 50 year-old female was arrested on the 14th of June around 1:40 pm at a downtown residence and charged with one count of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that on this date just after 1 pm, the accused assaulted her husband by striking him in the head with a coffee cup. The victim received injuries not requiring medical attention.

4) Just after 4 am this morning, 21 year-old Gordon Desmoulin of no fixed address was arrested and charged on outstanding warrants for one count of breach of release document, one count of breach of probation and one count of theft under $5000.00. The accused has been further charged with one count of obstruct police. It is alleged that city police attended on Park Place Court just after 3:30 regarding two suspicious males that were going through vehicles in that the area. When officers arrived they located the accused and when first dealing with him, it is alleged that he provided them with a false name.

Female Charged with Assault

A 23 year-old female was arrested on the 14th of June around 6:23 pm at a west end residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 14th of June around 6 pm the accused attended at her ex-boyfriend’s west end residence and assaulted him by scratching him in the shoulder area and hitting him in the head and face area. The victim received injuries not requiring medical attention.

The following break and enters were reported yesterday:

1) A shed was entered on Wellington Street West overnight from the 13th to the 14th of June. A bike was reported stolen.

2) An office at St. Basil Secondary High School was entered sometime between 6 pm on the 13th of June and 7:30 am on the 14th of June. Some cash and blank cheques were stolen.

Motor Vehicle Collision

Yesterday morning around 10:50 am officers from Traffic Services attended at the intersection of Northern Avenue and Great Northern Road regarding a pedestrian that was struck by a motor vehicle. A car operated by a 22 year-male was eastbound on Northern Avenue and was attempting to make a right turn onto Great Northern Road when it struck a pedestrian that was walking northbound in the crosswalk area on Great Northern Road. The 51 year-old male pedestrian was transported to hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
22 year-old Joseph Gallo of 66 Anita Boulevard has been charged with one count of fail to yield to pedestrian under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
