On Saturday, Sault Police officers arrested a 35-year-old man who they say refused to leave a local business.

At around 10:40 a.m., a 911 caller reported an unwanted person at a business in the 200 block of McNabb Street. Upon arrival, officers located a man who had refused to leave the premises and who proceeded to argue with police.

After escorting him out of the building, the man ran away from officers. When they caught up with him, police arrested the man.

Michel Koussaye is charged with:

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 5
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Enter Premises When Entry Prohibited (under the Trespass to Property Act)
  • Fail to Leave Premises When Directed (under the Trespass to Property Act)

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing and was subsequently released.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Koussaye is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

This is not the first time Koussaye has been in trouble with the law.

In February, he was arrested at a business in the 0-100 block of Great Northern Road after a security officer was pushed several times.

Last October, he was arrested after an unwanted person made inappropriate comments to employees at a business in the 600 block of Northern Avenue.
