A 64-year-old Desbarats man has been charged with assault after an alleged case of parking ticket rage.
Sault Ste. Marie Police were called to the 700 block of Great Northern Road at around noon on Thursday, May 30.
They say after being issued the ticket, the suspect grabbed the vest of a security officer and pushed them backwards, then stuffed the ticket into the victim’s vest before driving away.
The victim wasn’t hurt.
At around 11 a.m. the accused went to Sault Ste. Marie Police Service where he was arrested.
Robert Smith was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled back in court on July 29.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
