Male Arrested for Drug Possession

47 year-old Todd Petrie of #2-142 Albert Street East was arrested on the 25th of April at approximately 7 pm on Tancred Street and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance. It is alleged that the Street Team checked two males on Tancred Street and at the time the accused was found to be in possession of a small amount of cocaine and 2 cc's of Fentanyl in 2 syringes. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Male Arrested for Assaulting Police Officer

A 35 year-old male was arrested on the 25th of April at 6:10 pm at a centrally located residence and charge with on count of assault peace officer. It is alleged that city police received a call to a centrally located residence regarding a domestic dispute. When they arrived they located the male in an intoxicated state and confrontational. When being arrested, the accused kicked and spat at the officers. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Two Males Arrested for Breaking Into Vehicle

Two males were arrested on Friday evening in relation to breaking into vehicles on Oregon Road. It is alleged that at 10:15 pm, a homeowner called police after observing two males going through his vehicle. The two suspects stole some items from the vehicle and left the scene in a Ford Taurus. The homeowner was able to record the vehicle's plate number and give it to the police. At approximately 11:23 pm Batchewana Police Services stopped and searched suspect the vehicle on Old Garden River Road and found the homeowner's camera, cash and cell phone inside. The driver, 44 year-old Wayne Paradis of 52 Copernicus Drive was also found to be under the influence of alcohol and officers arrested him for impaired driving. City police further charged Wayne Paradis with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of possession of stolen property and also, one count of breach of probation after discovering he was wanted on an outstanding 2007 warrant. His son, 21-year-old Dustin Paradis of 26 Terry Fox Place, was also charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00 and one count of possession of stolen property. They are to appear in court on the 7th of June.

Impaired Driving Arrests

47 year-old Lisa Nichols of 144 Frontenac Street was arrested by City Police at 3:36 am on the 24th of April on Albert Street after police allegedly witnessed her vehicle serving along Albert Street West, bouncing off the curbs. When officers stopped and checked her vehicle, she was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The accused refused to provide a breath sample. She was charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of failing to provide a breath sample and she is to appear in court on the 17th of May.

49 year-old Kim Skagen of 171 Fourth Line East was arrested on the 25th of April at 10:38 pm on Wellington Street West and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. It is alleged that on the 25th of April around 1-:28 pm, city police received a call regarding a possible impaired driver on Wellington Street West and when they located the vehicle, they found that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. She is to appear in court on the 7th of June.

Drug Warrant Arrest

On the 25th of April at approximately 10:10 pm, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Emergency Services Unit and Street Team executed a search warrant at 171B Willow Avenue, apartment 5. During the course of the search officers located a small amount of marijuana and two prohibited weapons, a knife that opens with centrifugal force and pepper spray. As a result, 18 year-old Michael Fleury-Laine of that address, was charged with count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon. He is to appear in court on the 7th of June.

Male Arrested for Aggravated Assault

29 year-old Trevor Hunter of 50 Francis Street was arrested on the 25th of April at 1:00 am on Huron Street and charged with one count of aggravated assault. It is alleged that on the 24th of April just after 2 am the accused assaulted a male while outside a local downtown bar. The 33 year-old male victim received non-life threatening injuries that required medical treatment. The accused is to appear in court on the 31st of May.

Male Arrested for Threatening

32 year-old Joseph Bryze of 640 Shafer Avenue was arrested on the 24th of April at 10:55 pm at his residence and charge with one count of threaten death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 24th of April the accused contacted a person known to him by phone and threatened him. The accused is to appear in court on the 31st of May.

Three Persons Arrested outside Local Bar this morning

At approximately 2:20 am this morning city police received a call of a disturbance outside a local bar. Police attended at the bar found several intoxicated persons outside. When officers were attempting to deal with one of the intoxicated females, a male attempted to punch one of the officers. The male was arrested and continued to resist and to fight with officers. Another female, struck one of the officers in the back while arresting the male. She was taken into custody and also resisted arrested and continued to struggle with the officers. As a result, 23 year-old Joseph Bray of no fixed address was charged with one count of assault peace officer and one count of resist peace officer. One of the females, 22 year-old Crystal Kelly of #2-500 Wallace Terrace was charged with two counts of assault peace officer and one count of resist arrest. Both are to appear in court on June 7th. The other female, 26 year-old Jamie Masters of 205 St. Georges Avenue West was charged with one count of intoxicated in a public place.

Male Charged with Taxi Fraud

19 year-old Norbert Groulx of 677 Queen Street East was arrested on the 24th of April at 5:02 am on Queen Street East and charged with one count of transportation fraud. It is alleged that on the 24th of April at approximately 3:40 am the accused took a taxi from his residence to a location on Boundary Road and did not pay his fare. He is to appear in court on the 2nd of June.

Shoplifting Arrests

40 year-old Wayne Corbett of #3-157 Willow Avenue was arrested on the 23rd of April at 7:25 pm at Rome’s Independent Grocers and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the23rd of April the accused attended at the store around 7:38 pm and stole some items. He was apprehended by store security and held for police He is to appear in court on the 31st of May.

41 year-old Robert Larochelle of #303-525 Cooper Street was arrested on the 24th of April at 4:08 pm at Joe’s No Frills on Korah Road and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that the accused attended at the store on the 24th of April at 1:35 pm and stole some pain medication. He was apprehended by store security and held for police. He is to attend in court on the 31st of May.
