Two Persons Arrested for Possession of Stolen Licence Plates During Vehicle Stop

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested two persons on the 3rd of December at 1:45 pm after stopping a motor vehicle on Carmen’s Way and discovering that the placates affixed to it were allegedly stolen.   As a result 23 year-old Virginia West and 22 year-old Matthew Evans-Moreau both of #2-624 Queen Street West were charged with one count possession of property obtained by crime.  Evans-Moreau was also charged with and one count of breach of probation as at the time he was on conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.  Matthew Evans-Moreau was also arrested on the November 17, 2011 for the same type of incident and in the same vehicle. Evans-Moreau is to appear in bail court this morning and West is to appear in court on the 9th of January 2012. 

 

Youth Charged with Arson

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 16 year-old male youth on the 4th of December at 1:50 pm and charged him with one count of arson.  It is alleged that on the 4th of December around noon the accused was asked to leave a downtown residence for causing a disturbance.  A short time later, he lit a fence on fire on the property of the residence. The fire was quickly extinguished and minimal damage was reported.   The accused is to appear in court on the 10th of January. 

 

Impaired Driving Arrest

Offices with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 18 year-old Andrew Waboose of 1657 Old Garden River Road on the 3rd of December at 2:23 am on Hare Avenue and charged him with one count of consume over the legal limit.  It is alleged that on the 3rd of December at approximately 2:12 am the accused was operating a 1997 Chev Lumina at an excessive rate of speed on Second Line West.  Officers stopped the vehicle and found the driver, the accused, under the influence the accused.  The accused failed a roadside screen device test and was subsequently arrested.  He is to appear in court on the 9th of January 2012. 

 

Male Arrested for Breach of Release Conditions and Public Intoxication

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 23 year-old Michael Fox of no fixed address on the 3rd of December at 7:10 pm on Bruce Street and charged him with one count of breach of a release document, one count of intoxicated in a public place under the Liquor Licence Act and one count of fail to leave premises under the Trespasss to Property Act.  It is alleged that on the 3rd of December at approximately 7:08 pm officers attended at the Beer Store on Bruce Street for reports of an intoxicated male refusing to leave when directed to do so by the Beer Store staff. Officers attended and found the accused to be intoxicated and when they ran a check on him they discovered he was on an undertaking with conditions that he not consume any alcohol.  The accused is to appear in court on the 9th of January 2012. 

 

Male Charged with Trespassing at Night for Attempting to Break into a Garage & Vehicle on Hugill St.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 18 year-old Jordy Doyon of 50 Fish Hatchery Road on the 2nd of December at 12:10 am on Hugill Street and charged him with one count of trespassing at night and one count of intoxicated in a public place under the Liquor Licence Act.  It is alleged that on the 2nd of December at approximately 12:00 am the accused attempted to break into a garage and vehicle on Hugill Street.  The residents called police and the male homeowner chased the accused a short distance, apprehended him and held him until police took him into custody.  The accused was found to be in an intoxicated state at the time, was subsequently charged and is to appear in court on the 9th of January 2012. 

 

Break and Enter/Theft Reports

  • A residence on Ascot Avenue was entered on Sunday.  Money was reported stolen.
  • A residence on Sussex Road was broken into and a door was reporter damaged.  Nothing was reported taken.
  • A residence on Pardee Avenue was entered on Saturday.  Medication, jewellery and some Christmas presents were reported taken.
  •  A residence on Gore Street was entered on the weekend.  Medication was reported taken. 
  • An attempt break and enter was reported to a garage on Robin Street on Friday night. 
  • Vehicles were entered on Henrietta Avenue, Patrick Street and Willow Avenue.  Cash, change, CD’s and sunglasses were reported taken. 

 

Mischief Reports

  • A city transit bus travelling on Goulais Avenue had a window damaged by a pellet gun shot on Friday around 4:45 pm.
  • A vehicle was vandalized on Hawthorne Avenue.
