The following two persons are to appear in bail court this morning: 1) 44 year-old Melvin Pine was arrested on the 23rd of February at 3:40 pm at an east end residence and charged with one count of break, enter and commit, one count of threaten death
The following two persons are to appear in bail court this morning:

1) 44 year-old Melvin Pine was arrested on the 23rd of February at 3:40 pm at an east end residence and charged with one count of break, enter and commit, one count of threaten death or bodily harm, one count of resist or obstruct peace officer, one count of breach of probation and one count of mischief under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 23rd of February at approximately 1:49 am the accused broke into a residence in the 400 block of Wellington Street East by kicking in the front door breaking the door frame. Once inside, the accused made verbal threats to kill the resident that was home at the time. The resident and the accused are known to each other. The accused was located a short time later at an east end residence and when being arrested he became combative with the officers resulting in him being pepper sprayed. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation to keep the peace and be of good behavior.

2) A 34 year-old male was arrested on the 22nd of February at 9:10 pm at a west end residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 22nd of February at 8 pm the accused assaulted his common-law girlfriend at their west end residence by grabbing her arms and pushing her to the floor. The victim received non-life threatening injuries.

Two People Charged with Assault

1. 20 year-old Lacey Sayers-Thibeault of 103 White Birch Drive in Garden River was arrested on the 22nd of February at 2:30 pm at the city police station and charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 16th of February at approximately 1:30 am the accused assaulted a female known to her in the parking lot of the Churchill Plaza by punching her several times in the face and pushing her to the ground. The victim attended at the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The accused is to appear in court on the 31st of March.

2. A 47 year-old male was arrested on the 23rd of February at 10:35 pm at his residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 23rd of February at approximately 9:22 pm the accused attended at his ex-girlfriend’s west end residence and assaulted her by pushing her to the ground and punching her in the face. The victim received non-life threatening injuries. The accused is to attend court on the 31st of March.

Impaired Driving

A 17 year-old male was arrested on the 22nd of February at 7:22 pm at his west end residence and charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of consume over the legal limit and one count of breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. It is alleged that on the 22nd of February just before 7 pm the accused was driving his motor vehicle on Airport Road when he lost control and struck a snow bank. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation with conditions that he not consume any alcohol and that he keep the peace and be of good behavior. The accused is to appear in court on the 25th of March.

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

A 16 year-old male was arrested on the 24th of February at 12:25 am on Goulais Avenue and charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that one the 21st of February the accused was found in possession of jewellery and a digital camera that he had stolen from his mother’s residence on that day and attempted to pawn at a local pawn shop. The accused is to appear in court on the 25th of March.

Hit and Run

21 year-old Jake Greco of #9-110 Wilding Avenue was charged on the 24th of February as a result of a hit and run accident he was involved in on the 21st of February at 5:11 pm on Wallace Terrace. He was charged with one count of fail to remain at an accident. It is alleged that on the 21st of February at 5:11 pm he was involved in a motor vehicle collision on Wallace Terrace near Farewell Terrace and left the scene. It is alleged that the accused was driving his Chev pick up eastbound on Wallace Terrace when his vehicle struck a Pontiac from behind. The 35 year-old female driver of the Pontiac had been stopped waiting for a vehicle ahead that was turning onto Farewell Terrace. She was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and later released. The accused is to appear in court on the 31st of March.

Stealing a Magazine from Mac's

20 year-old Jesse Petingalo of #3-691 A Second Line west was arrested on the 25th of February at 3:10 am at his residence and charged with one count of robbery. It is alleged that on the 25th of February at approximately 1:55 am the accused attended at the Mac’s Convenience Store at 647 Second Line West and stole a magazine The clerk attempted to apprehend the accused and was pushed against the door. The clerk received injuries that did not require medical attention. The accused is to appear in court on the 17th of March.

The following break and enters were reported over the weekend:

1) A residence on Glen Avenue was entered on the 24th of February. It is not known what was taken.
2) Home Depot on Great Northern Road was entered at approximately 12:31 am on the 24th of February. It is not known what was taken.
3) A residence on Pittsburgh Avenue was entered sometime overnight on the 23rd of February. A PS3 was reported stolen.
4) A residence on First Avenue was entered on the 23rd of February between 2:20 pm and midnight. A 45 calibre semi-automatic handgun and a 22 revolver were reported stolen.

Several vehicles were entered over the weekend:

1) A vehicle parked at a residence on Spruce Street was entered on the 23rd of February. A mag-lite flashlight and a clarion face plate were reported stolen.
2) A vehicle on Tancred Street was entered on the 23rd of February. A Clarion CD player was reported stolen.
3) A vehicle on Spruce Street was entered between 1:30 am and 4:30 am on the 23rd of February. A Panasonic Stereo was stolen.
4) A stereo was taken from a vehicle parked in the 400 block apartment complex of Second Line West on the 22nd of February.
