Theft from Canadian Tire 18 year-old Kenneth Armstrong of #2-696 Pine Street was arrested at Canadian Tire on the 25th January at 1:12 pm and charged with one count of theft, one count of assault and one count of breach of probation.

18 year-old Kenneth Armstrong of #2-696 Pine Street was arrested at Canadian Tire on the 25th January at 1:12 pm and charged with one count of theft, one count of assault and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 25th of January at around 12:25 pm the accused attended at the Canadian Tire store and took an Ottawa Senators toque valued at $15.99 and attempted to leave the store without paying. The accused pushed a store security officer that was attempting to apprehend him in the parking lot. A store employee assisted and was elbowed in the face by the accused. They were able to hold the accused until police arrived. There were no injuries reported.

Assault Charge

A 29 year-old male was arrested on the 27th of January at 7 pm at his centrally located residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 27th of January at approximately 5:15 pm the accused got into a verbal argument with his mother at their residence and assaulted her by hitting her in the forehead and slapping her three times in the face. The victim received non-life threatening injuries.

Assault #2

A 47 year-old male was arrested on the 26th of January at 2:04 am at a downtown residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 26th of January at approximately 2 am the accused got into a verbal argument with his common-law wife and assaulted her by pushing her down, grabbing her around the neck and attempting to choke her. The victim received non-life threatening injuries that did not require medical attention.

Several Charges For Justin

21 year-old Justin Whalen of 284 Kingsford Road was arrested at 4:46 am on the 26th of January on Pim Street and charged with one count of breach of a release order and one count of personation with intent. It is alleged that police checked the accused at an address on Pim Street on an unrelated matter and the accused falsely identified himself. At the time of the incident the accused was on a recognizance order with curfew conditions to be in his place of residence from 10 pm to 7 am daily.

Imparied Driving

48 year-old Kelly William Wood of 438 Wallace Terrace was arrested on the 27th of January at 2:36 am on Goulais Avenue and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over legal limit. It is alleged that on the 27th of January at approximately 2:35 am that city police on routine patrol observed a yellow Ford pick up that was travelling west bound on Douglas Street at a high rate of speed and proceed through the intersection at Goulais Avenue without stopping for the stop sign. The truck continued north bound onto Goulais Avenue swerving in an out of the north bound and south bound lanes, fishtailing and striking a and snow bank. Police were able to stop the truck and when they checked the driver, the accused, they found him to be under the influence of alcohol. He is to appear in court on the 3rd of March.

Threaten Charges

A 42 year-old female was arrested on the 25th of January at 11 am at the city police station and charged with one count of threaten death or bodily harm . It is alleged that on the 23rd of January around 12 pm the accused contacted her ex-common law husband by phone and threatened to kill him. She is to appear in court on the 27th of February.

Neighbour dispute leads to charges

Two persons were charged at their residence on the 26th of January around 4:51 pm as a result of a neighbour dispute.
34 year-old Craig Turcotte of 22 Creekside Lane was charged with one count of mischief and 26 year-old Amanda Stephenson of the same address was charged with one count of threatened death or bodily harm.
It is alleged that on the 26th of January at approximately 4 pm the accused Craig Turcotte shoveled snow that contained dog urine and feces onto the front steps of his neighbour’s residence blocking the entrance way of the home. He then continued to shovel the snow on top of her vehicle. When the homeowner was outside in her front yard, the accused Amanda Stephenson threatened to run her over when she saw her out walking her dog.
They were both given Appearance Notices to attend court on the 25th of February.

Mischief

19 year-old Troy Wabigwan of #2-262 Wellington Street West was arrested at 7:50 am on the 26th of January on Queen Street East at and charged with one count of mischief. It is alleged that on the 25th of January at approximately 11:54 pm the accused punched a whole in the front window of the Aqua Coin Laundromat on Gore Street. He is to appear in court on the 3rd of March.

Break and Enters

The following break and enters reported over the weekend:
1) A residence on Wellington Street East was entered on the 25th of January between 1 pm and 7 pm. Some alcohol and movies were reported stolen.
2) An attempt break and enter was reported to a residence on Leigh’s Bay Road that occurred on the 27th of January between 10 am and 1:45 pm.
(3) A residence on Old Goulais Bay Road was entered on the 27th of January at approximately 1:37 pm. An alarm at the residence was activated at 1:37 pm. Some jewellery was reported stolen. A neighbour reported seeing a dark green Dodge Minivan in the area of the residence that was broken into around the time of the break in. Two males were observed inside the van. They were described as being around 18 years of age, one wearing a ball cap, approximately 5’9, slim build, clean cut and wearing dark clothing. Another neighbour reported that around this same time one of the males fitting the same description in the same van, got out and knocked at their door. The male asked for a name that this witness did not recognize and then left in the van. Police checked the area with negative results. These two males were possibly checking out homes to break into.
