Stabbing Incident Under Investigation: Last evening city police were called to a family dispute last evening at approximately 8:12 pm at a residence located on Wellington Street West.
Stabbing Incident Under Investigation:

Last evening city police were called to a family dispute last evening at approximately 8:12 pm at a residence located on Wellington Street West. When officers arrived they discovered that a 19 year-old male had been stabbed in the abdomen area. The victim is currently being treated at hospital for his injuries. A 31 year-old male was arrested at the scene and has been charged with one count of attempt murder and one count of breach of a release document. He is to appear in bail court this morning.
The investigation is continuing and no further details will be released at this time.

The following persons are to appear in bail court this morning:

1) 28 year-old James Purcell of no fixed address arrested on outstanding warrants on the 25th of July just before 3 pm on Queen Street East and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00 and two counts of breach of a release document.

2) 49 year-old William Archer of #4-18 Wellington Street was arrested on the 27th of July at the Station Mall around 5 pm and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00 and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused attended at Sears and stole some clothing. He was apprehended by store security and held for police. At the time of his arrest, officers further discovered that the accused was wanted on outstanding warrants and further charged with one count of breach of a release order and another count of breach of probation.

3) A 16 year-old youth was arrested on the 27th of July at 12:53 am at the Station Mall and charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of breach of a release document and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused was arrested by Mall Security when he was found trespassing on the property. When police attended and arrested the accused, he was found to be in possession of approximately 2.5 grams of marijuana. At the time of the incident the accused was on condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and was not to have any non-prescribed drugs in his possession.

4) A 32 year-old male was arrested on the 26th of July at 6 am on Wellington Street West and charged with one count of threatened death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 26th of July at approximately 3 am the accused contacted his common-law spouse on her cell phone and threatened to kill her.

5) A 33 year-old male was arrested on the 26th of July at 12:07 pm and charged with one count of threaten death or bodily harm and one count of mischief. It is alleged that on the 26th of July the accused got into a verbal argument with his common law spouse at her residence, threatened her and punched a whole in the wall.

Impaired Driver Arrested:

19 year-old James Archibald of #4-1018 Peoples Road was arrested on the 26th of July at 2:12 am on Great Northern Road and charged with one count of consume over the legal limit and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 26th of July around 2 am city police received a call regarding possible impaired driver in the area of Great Northern Road and Second Line. Officers attended in the area and observed the vehicle in the parking lot of a restaurant on Great Northern Road. When officers stopped and checked the driver, the accused, they found him to be under the influence of alcohol. At the time of the incident the accused was on curfew conditions to be in his residence at 9 pm.

Male Arrested On Outstanding Warrants:

20 year-old Justin Landry of 126 Pineshores Drive in Goulais River, Ontario was arrested on the 25th of July at 2 pm at the city police station on outstanding warrants and charged with one count of trespassing at night, possession of property obtained by crime and one count of theft under $5,000.00. He is to appear in court on the 25th of August.

Female Arrested for Shoplifting at Several Stores at Station Mall:

18 year-old Lisa Bell of 50 Ferguson Avenue was arrested on the 27th of July just after 5 pm at the Station Mall and charged with three counts of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of breach of probation and four counts of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 27th of July around 3:45 pm the accused was arrested at Sears by store security when she stole some cosmetics. When police attended and further investigated the incident, they discovered that the accused had stolen merchandise from three other clothing stores in the Station Mall. The accused was found in possession of the stolen items at the time of her arrest. She is to appear in court on the 8th of September.

Female Robbed While Walking Home:

On the 27th of July at 9:52 am, City police received information regarding a robbery that occurred on the 27th of July between the hours of 12:00 am and 1:00 am.
A female adult advised police that on the 27th of July around 12:00 am to 1:00 am she left the Sault Casino and was walking northbound on Andrew Street when two males approached her and asked if she had a cigarette. The female advised them that she did not have one and at this time the males then began to walk beside her. One of the males stuck out his leg and tripped the female to the ground and began to go through her pockets. When the victim began to scream for help, the male punched her in the face. The males then fled on foot towards Esposito Park. The victim received non-life threatening injuries that did not require medical attention.
The male that tripped and struck the victim is described as being 16-19 years of age, 5’5”, skinny build, wearing baggy blue jeans, a ball hat, covered with a mustard coloured hoodie.
The second male is described as being 16-19 years of age, 5’5” with a skinny build, dark short hair, wearing baggy black jeans and a black t-shirt, with a ball hat.

Thefts Reported over Weekend:

• A purse was stolen from a grocery cart at the Food Basics Store on Friday afternoon.
• A rear plate was stolen off a vehicle parked on Wellington Street East on the 25th of July.
• Bikes were stolen from residences on Henrietta Street and the 100 block of Queen Street East.
• Some change was stolen out of a vehicle parked on Robin Street overnight between the 27th and 28th.
• A Labatts Bag containing personal items was taken from a vehicle parked on Robin Street overnight between the 27th and 28th.
• A propane tank was stolen from the Trading Post on the 27th of July just before noon.
• A disability parking permit was stolen out of a vehicle on Old Garden River Road.

Mischief Reports Taken Over the Weekend:

• A vehicle parked on Muriel Drive was egged overnight on Friday.
• A vehicle window was smashed on Breton Road on July 26th between 4am and 10am.
• Sometime overnight on Friday, a hole was cut in the chain linked fence at the Manzo Pool.
• A vehicle owner complained that someone loosened the nuts on his vehicle and when he moved the vehicle, the tires fell off.
• A mailbox in the 1000 block of Base Line was damaged.
• A vehicle parked on Albert Street West was damaged on Sunday.
