A 24 year-old male was taken into custody at approximately 10:16 am this morning just outside the rear area of a building located in the 100 block of Gore Street. The male surrendered to the Emergency Services Unit Officers peacefully. The firearm was recovered.
There were no injuries reported to anyone in this incident.

The incident remains under investigation. There are no further details to be released at this time.

Update on armed male at Queen St. and Gore St.

At approx. 4:39 am this morning city police received two calls regarding a male with a gun and shots being fired. Upon police arrival officers heard gun shots and observed a male running into the area behind O’Aces Bar at Queen St. and Gore St. The area was quickly contained and is still being blocked off. Police negotiators, the Emergency Services Unit and EMS are in the area. At this time no one has been reported injured. The public is asked to avoid the areas between Bay St., to the south, Wellington St., to the north, Tancred St. to the east and Andrew St. to the west until further notice.

Four persons to appear in bail court

1) A 15-year-old male was arrested, yesterday evening and charged with one count of threatening and one count of mischief. It is alleged that the youth threatened to assault a person known to him and then damaged the walls of the residence where he was residing.

2) At approx. 8:20 am June 13th city police arrested 41-year-old Margaret Boyer, of 172 Frontenac St, Rankin Reserve. Ms Boyer was stopped at Canada Customs and as a result of a CPIC check she was arrested for an outstanding warrant for failing to appear for fingerprints.

3) A 19-year-old male was arrested at approx. 12:30 am this morning as a result of a domestic assault. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his common-law wife by grabbing her, shoving her and pushing her to the floor. Accused is also alleged to have damaged the walls and doors of the west end residence. The victim did not require medical attention for her injuries. The accused male is charged with one count of assault and one count of mischief.

4) At approx. 9:40 pm Friday June 13th city police arrested a male known to them for outstanding warrants. It is alleged that the accused, Andre Laine, was stopped by police on Northern Ave. Upon checking the accused on CPIC officers learned that Mr. Laine was wanted on three warrants. Andre Laine, age 23, of 27 Terry Fox Pl Apt 303 , was arrested on warrants for assault, assault with a weapon, breach of probation, fail to appear for court and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public

Male arrested for break and enter

On Saturday June 14th at approx. 6:50 am city police arrested a male for break and enter. It is alleged that on Saturday June 14th the accused broke into the Northland Animal Clinic located at 695 Trunk Rd. Once inside the accused damaged lockers and cabinets and stole a quantity of narcotics. Police arrived and located the accused inside the building. Grant Mullen, age 48, of 48 Smale Ave. is charged with one count of break and enter and one count of possession of housebreaking tools. He will be appearing in court on July 27th.

Male arrested for impaired driving.

On Saturday June 14th at approx. 10:40 pm city police received complaints from several motorist of a possible impaired driver on Second Line E. Officers attended the area and located the suspect’s vehicle on Black Rd. Upon speaking to the driver officers formed the opinion that the accused was impaired by alcohol. Charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of drive over 80mgs is Russel Demour, age 60, of 352 A Dacey Rd. apt # 202. He will be appearing in court on July 14th.

Female arrested for domestic assault.

On Friday June 13th at approx. 10:30 pm city police were called to a west end address regarding an assault. Officers received information from a male person that he had been assaulted by his common-law partner. The accused is alleged to have punched the victim in the mouth. On June 14th at approx. 1:40 pm the accused was located and arrested. The accused is charged with one count of assault and will be appearing in court on July 23rd. The victim did not require medical attention.

Break and enters were reported to the following locations:

1. A residence in the 100 block of Kitchener Rd. - tools taken from the garage.
2. A residence in the 600 block of Portage Lane - electronic items and video games were taken.
3. A residence in the 100 block of Willow Ave. - unknown what was taken.
4. The Market Mall IDA Pharmacy, 275 Second Line W. was entered for the second time in a week. Once again cigarettes were stolen.

Two reports of mischief

City police received two mischief reports over the weekend.
The Amedeo’s Hair Styling shop located in the Churchill Plaza had one of its windows broken.
A vehicle parked in the 300 block of Millcreek Dr. was damaged and items stolen form inside.
