City Police had a very busy weekend. 10 People will be appearing in bail court this morning. 6 of the 10 people were charged with breaches of release orders or breaches of probation.
City Police had a very busy weekend. 10 People will be appearing in bail court this morning. 6 of the 10 people were charged with breaches of release orders or breaches of probation. The following 4 accused persons include offences other than breaches:

A 24-year old male was arrested on the 26th of November after City Police attended at a centrally located residence for a domestic dispute. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his girlfriend by slapping her in the face, throwing her to the ground and hitting her in face with a phone. When officers searched the accused the located a small baggie containing what is believed to be cocaine and quantity of cash. The accused has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance. The victim did not require medical treatment at the time of the incident.


29-year old Shaun Gallant of 509-631 MacDonald Avenue was arrested by officers from the Investigation Services Section on Friday and charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of possession of stolen credit card, 5 counts of fraud, two counts of uttering a forged document and one count of attempt fraud. It is alleged that on the 25th of November the accused used a stolen credit card to defraud Checker Cab, A&P, a Mac’s Mart, and Foot Locker of a number of items or services.

41-year old Clayton Lapensee was remanded from a video remand on the 26th of November to today’s bail court for his involvement in a motor vehicle collision with injuries on the 25th of November. He has been charged with one count of impaired driving causing injury, one count of consume over the legal limit, one count of fail to remain at an accident and one count of public mischief.

A 26-year old male has been charged with one count of sexual assault. It is alleged that on the 26th of November the accused sexually assaulted a female known to the accused. The incident took place in the City’s east end in a residential setting. The accused and the victim have the same address. To protect the identity of the victim the name of the accused is not being released.
26-year old Melanie Wardell of 2-710 Second Line West was arrested by patrol officers in the 500 block of Albert Street West. It is alleged that officers observed the accused to be getting in her parked vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Officers stopped the accused before she drove away and charged her with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. The accused will appear in court on January 9th, 2006.

42-year old Gus Greco of 129 Gore Street was arrested on the 26th of November and charged with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that the accused left Canadian Tire without paying for 5 hockey sweaters valued at just under $700. The accused was apprehended outside of the store by store security and turned over to City Police. Officers also learned that there was a warrant for the accused for failing to appear in court. The accused was released and will appear in court on January 9th, 2006.

Officers from Investigation Services arrested 22-year old Vincent Lance of 2-418 Queen Street West on the 25th of November. It is alleged that on that date the accused attempted to defraud the Foot Locker of clothing in the amount of $800-$1,000 using a stolen credit card. Mr. Lance was a co-accused with Mr. Gallant in the same incident involving Foot Locker. Mr. Lance has been charged with one count of attempt fraud. He will appear in court on January 9th.

On the 25th of November officers from Investigation Services attended at an apartment inside 228 Hudson Street and located a sawed off shotgun. The shotgun and the ammunition for the gun were improperly stored. The accused persons did not have a licence to possess the firearms. A police query of the weapon revealed that the gun was stolen from a locked vehicle on Pine Street around the 15th of November. 22-year old Christopher Robinson of front/apartment 101-228 Hudson Street has been charged with one count of firearm-careless use or storage, one count of breach of regulations regarding storage, one count of unauthorized possession a weapon, one count of possession of restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition, one count of possession of weapon obtained by crime, and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. The accused will appear in court on January 9th.


City Police received a number of reports of break and enters over the weekend:

Between 1 am and 9 am on the 26th of November thieves entered Hot Nails located at 41 Great Northern Road. An undisclosed amount of money was taken.


Sometime overnight on the 25th and 26th a home in the 100 block of Glenwood Avenue was entered and thieves made off with an X-box, games and a wallet and it’s contents.
3) On the 26th of November Construction Equipment at 1245 Great Northern Road reported that sometime overnight thieves entered the compound, but it does not appear if anything was taken.

A home in the 100 block of Plaintree Drive was entered on the 26th between 5 pm and 10 pm. Thieves made off with silverware and a small amount of jewellery.

Between the 25th of November and the 27th of November a vacant home in the 600 block of Portage Lane was entered and a dehumidifier was taken.


On the 28th of November, just after 3 am thieves broke into the Cash Store located at 154 Great Northern Road and stole an undisclosed amount of money.
