Eastside Confectionary Robbed On the 30th of September just after 8:30 pm two males, with their faces concealed, entered the Eastside Confectionary Store on Eastern Avenue and robbed the store at knifepoint.

On the 30th of September just after 8:30 pm two males, with their faces concealed, entered the Eastside Confectionary Store on Eastern Avenue and robbed the store at knifepoint. The suspects fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and a quantity of cigarettes. The two suspects were located a short distance away from the store and the stolen property was recovered. 18-year old Kody Manitowabi of 11-16 Terry Fox Place has been charged with one count of robbery and one count of disguise with intent-face masked. He will appear in bail court this morning. A 15-year old youth has also been charged with one count of robbery and one count of disguise with intent-face masked and will also appear in bail court this morning.

Assault, Criminal Harassment & Unlawfully in a Dwelling

A 44-year old male was arrested on the 29th of September in the evening hours and charged with one count of assault, one count of criminal harassment and one count of unlawfully in a dwelling house. It is alleged that on the 15th of September the accused attended at his ex-girlfriends residence uninvited and assaulted her with a phone. It is alleged that during the months of August and September the accused repeatedly called the victim, followed her around town and also sat outside of her residence. The accused will appear in bail court this morning.

Possession of a Firearm, Threatening Death, Forcible Confinement & Assault

A 31-year old male was arrested on the 2nd of October just after midnight and charged with one count of possession of firearm knowing possession is unauthorized, two counts of threatening to cause death or bodily harm, three counts of forcible confinement and four counts of assault. It is alleged that the incidents took place in April and August of this year, with the firearms offence occurring in October. The assaults including grabbing the victim by the arms and pushing her, covering her mouth with his hand and choking the victim. On four occasions the accused would not allow the victim to leave. The threats included threats to sexually assault the victim as well as to punch the victim. The accused is the husband of the victim and he will appear in bail court this morning.

17 year old Charged with Theft Under $5000

A 17-year old male youth was arrested on the 1st of October and charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and two counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 1st of October the youth attended at the Sears Store in the Station Mall and left the store with two unpaid for Columbia winter jackets. The accused was followed by store security. It is alleged that the youth attempted to conceal a jacket in a garbage can. The youth was on probation at the time of the incident and will appear in bail court this morning. Officers are continuing to look for a second male who was also involved in the theft.

Possession & Trafficking

24-year old Matti McClelland of 98 Birch Street was arrested on the 29th of September and charged with one count of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance. It is alleged that the accused sold 10 ecstasy tablets to a second male. The street value of the drugs is estimated to be $250. 23-year old Curtis Daynard of 389 Pim Street was charged with possession of a control drug or substance as it is alleged that he purchased the tablets from the accused. The drug transaction occurred on Great Northern Road at a business and was observed by a plainclothes police officer who was at the business. McClelland will appear in bail court this morning and Daynard will appear in court on November 6th.

Another Copper Wire Theif

On the 29th of September officers from Investigation Services arrested 20-year old Ryan Chiarello of 119 Salisbury Avenue for theft of stolen copper wire. It is alleged that in June of this year the accused stole copper wire from S & T Electric on Sackville Road and then sold the copper to a local scrap yard. The accused has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. The accused will appear in court on October 23rd.

Attempted Break & Enter Leads to Arrests

On the 30th of September just before 1 am two male youths were in the back yards of homes on Oryme Avenue. It is alleged that a 17-year old youth attempted to enter a vehicle but was scared off. Police were subsequently contacted and attended in the area. Officers located the youths and noted that they had a duffle bag with them containing a number of CD’s as well as a Visa credit card. Officers were able to determine that the credit car was stolen from a vehicle on Wilson Street earlier in the night. A16-year old male has been charged with one count of trespass by night, one count of theft under $5,000, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of theft of credit card and one count of possession of a stolen credit card. The 17-year old male has been charged with one count of attempt theft under $5,000, one count of trespass by night, one count of theft under $5,000, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of theft of credit card, one count of possession of a stolen credit card and two counts of breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Both youths will appear in court on October 31st.

Two Girls Sleeping a Car

Just after 8 am on the 30th of September officers attended in the area of Terry Fox Place for a suspicious vehicle. Officers located two young females sleeping in a vehicle. When officers contacted the owner of the vehicle it was learned that the vehicle had been taken from a garage on Great Northern Road. A 14-year old youth and a 17-year old youth were each charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime. Both youths will appear in court on October 31st.

Break and Enters Over the Weekend

1) On the 1st of October just after 2:30 am Prime Cut Meats on Northern Avenue was broken into but nothing was taken.

2) Just after 3 am Micro Age Computers on Great Northern Avenue was broken into and a number of computers and laptops were taken.

3) Between the 30 of September at 12 noon to the 1st of October at 12 noon thieves broke into a home on Cathcart Street and stole a television, a bread maker and DVD’s.

4) Sometime between 12 noon on the 30th of September and 10 am on the 1st of October thieves broke into a shed on Wilson Street and stole three bicycles.

5) On the 1st of October officers attended at an address in the 1000 block of Prince Lake Road for an attempt break and enter.

6) On the 1st of October officers attended at an address in the 1000 block of Prince Lake Road for a break and enter. Sometime between the 24th of September and the 1st of October thieves broke into the residence and a quantity of items were taken.

7) On the 2nd of October just after midnight the offices of Skeggs and Pacciocco was broken into. It is unknown if anything was taken.

8) Just before 3 am this morning Algoma Business Computers was broken into. It is believed that two 17 inch monitors were taken.
