ASSAULT IN THE CELLS
21-year-old Derek Spilman of 222 Albert Street East will appear in bail court this morning after he was involved in an altercation in the courthouse holding cells on Friday morning.

It is alleged that Spilman assaulted another male while they were awaiting their court appearances. The victim was punched in the face and then kicked in the head a number of times and was still in the process of kicking the victim when arrested by City Police Officers. The victim refused medical treatment for his injuries.

Mr. Spilman will appear in bail court today after being charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm and one count of breach of probation by failing to keep the peace and be good.


YOUTH CAUSES DISTURBANCE AT COURT HOUSE
A 17-year-old youth who was also in bail court on Friday ended up with more charges against him. It is alleged that the youth, while being transported from the city police station to the holding cells at the courthouse, spit on an officer and made some derogatory comments.

Once at the courthouse and as the same officer was locking the holding cells door the youth once again spit at the officer and called him names.

During the court proceedings, the youth did not like the information a city police officer was providing and became agitated and started to scream out obscenities at the officer. When the Justice of the Peace directed the youth to be quiet, the youth yelled a name at the JP and then also spit at the JP, striking him in the arm of his robe.

The youth was removed from the courtroom at that time and charged with a number of offences including two counts of assaulting a police officer, one count of assault and one count of obstructing a peace officer. The youth will appear in bail court this morning.


WRESTLED INTO CRUISER
Timothy Jubenville, age 23, of 418 Wallace Terrace will be in bail court this morning. On Saturday evening, city police were called to the 800 block of Queen Street East for a male causing a disturbance.

When officers did a check on Mr. Jubenville, who had been drinking, it was learned he was on an undertaking not to consume alcohol. When officers arrested the accused he started to struggle with them and had to be wrestled into the cruiser.

While on route to the station, the accused threatened to kill the 2 officers as well as their family members. Mr. Jubenville has been charged with one count of breaching a release document, one count of resisting arrest and 2 counts of threatening death or bodily harm.


VICTIM HARASSED
Early yesterday morning a 24-year-old male contacted his ex-girlfriend by phone when on a probation order not to communicate with her and not to molest, harass or annoy her. While on the phone with the victim, the accused told her he was going to smash her belongings and slit her throat.

The victim called police and a short time later he was taken into custody. He will appear in bail court this morning after being charged with one count of threatening and 2 counts of breach of probation.


HOUSE SHOT AT WITH SHOTGUN
Shortly before 7:00 yesterday morning, city police were called to a residence in the 600 block of Third Line East after a homeowner reported finding shotgun pellets in his siding and in the side of his car.

This resulted in an investigator from the Investigation Services Section being called out to interview a number of persons. Shortly after 3 pm yesterday, city police arrested and charged Jody Lynn Gibson, age 31, of 696 Third Line East with a number of weapons related offences.

Mr. Gibson has been charged with one count of careless use of a firearm, one count of possession of a prohibited firearm, and one count of unsafe storage. Mr. Gibson will appear in bail court this morning.


REMOVED FROM RESIDENCE
Early Sunday morning city police were called to the 400 block of Cathcart Street for a male to be removed from a residence. Upon arrival officers found Isadore Irwin Agawa, age 38, of Mission Road in Goulais River in the residence.

Mr. Agawa was on a release document not allowing him to be at the address on Cathcart Street, as well as being on a release document in which the accused was suppose to notify any address change. Mr. Agawa failed to notify his new address. He will appear in bail court today after being charged with 2 counts of breach of a release document.


BREAK & ENTERS
City Police also received a number of reports of break and enters over the weekend. These occurred in the 100 block of Angelina where some jewellery was taken; in the 100 block of Pine Street where a stereo was taken and the house ransacked as well as 3 units entered at the Store it Yourself Business on John Street.
