One charged after knife incident at Bay Street business

An investigation revealed the accused brandished a knife and lunged at security when they confronted him about stealing

One person is facing weapons charges after an incident Saturday.

911 was called at around 4:50 p.m. to report a disturbance at a business in the 200 block of Bay Street.

“An investigation revealed the accused had brandished a knife and lunged at security officers when they confronted the accused about stealing,” said Sault Ste. Marie Police in a news release.

A suspect was arrested in the 0-100 block of Foster Drive.

Jake Nicholson, 28, has been charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order x2

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
