GUY FIRES AT COPS, WITH HIS FINGERS

Around 4:07 a.m. Saturday, City Police arrested a man found inside a Wellington Street East apartment where he didn't belong.

The man, who gave his name as Peter Miller but later turned out to be Albert Legault, 24, of 311 Wellington Street West, acted belligerently toward the attending officers and drew his fingers and pretended to fire at them, police say.

When police were initially called to the apartment, they found that a man had borrowed a ladder and smashed a window to enter without permission.

Police tried several times to persuade the man to leave voluntarily, then entered by force and arrested Legault.

He's facing five charges: being unlawfully in a dwelling-place, mischief (in relation to the smashed window), impersonation (in relation to the false name), trespassing by night (in relation to the borrowed ladder), and with breaching a previous probation order.

He'll appear in court on July 15.
