Members of the Sault Police Service in conjunction with the O.P.P. Child Pornography Section have charged at 55-year-old Sault man following an undercover Internet Luring investigation.

On Friday, as a result of a 2-week undercover investigation, the accused went to a coffee shop in the Sault where he allegedly believed he would be meeting a 22-year-old female to facilitate sexual relations with her and a 12-year-old child. He showed up at the predetermined time and location and met with an undercover officer when he was arrested.

As a result, a search warrant was executed at a residence at 615 Bay Street, Apt #1207. Officers seized a computer, computer peripherals and other articles pertinent to the investigation.

Charged with one count of Internet Luring and one count of Attempted Invitation to Sexual Touching is Richard Wayne Edwards of Sault Ste. Marie. He is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court on Monday, March 24.
