One person is facing charges after Sault Ste. Marie Police say a security guard was bit by someone they suspected of stealing.

Police were called to the 200 block of Bay Street at around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday.

“An investigation revealed the accused had stolen items from the business and, when confronted by a security officer, bit them and attempted to run away,” police said in a news release.

Police said the suspect resisted arrest by “pulling away and refusing to walk to the police cruiser.”

Steffani Oliver, 28, has been charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.
