A 28-year-old is facing multiple charges following an early morning police investigation earlier this week.
Around 3 a.m. on Aug. 20, officers with the Patrol Services unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were investigating an incident near James Street.
During the investigation, officers saw someone they felt was attempting to avoid them.
When officers stopped the individual and questioned them, police say the person provided an alias and appeared to have an edged weapon in their jacket.
Police say the person refused to drop the weapon and was subsequently arrested. A search uncovered a sword, a large knife, and a pellet gun, police say.
The individual was also wanted on outstanding Ontario Provincial Police warrants.
Morgan Robinson is charged with:
- possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- carry concealed weapon
- obstruct peace officer
The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing before being released on bail.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Robinson is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
