Sault Ste. Marie Police say a 19-year-old faces stunt driving charges after an officer spotted a vehicle travelling nearly 60 km/h over the speed limit in the north end of the city.
At 9:26 a.m. on Feb. 15, while conducting speed enforcement on Third Line East, an officer observed a vehicle travelling 109 km/h in a 50km/h zone.
The officer conducted a traffic stop.
The driver is facing an automatic 30-day licence suspension and the vehicle will be impounded for 14 days in accordance with Stunt Driving regulations under the Highway Traffic Act.
The average fee to have a vehicle towed and impounded for 14 days is approximately $1,400, police said in a news release.
