Three persons to appear in bail court:

1) At approx. 8:30 am yesterday morning city police were called to a west end residence regarding a domestic assault. During the course of their investigation officers learned from the female victim that she had been assaulted and stabbed by her ex-common-law boyfriend. The suspected, a 40-year-old male was subsequently located and arrested. It is alleged that the accused and the victim were in the victim’s car and when an argument took place resulting in the accused assaulting the victim three times. The accused is then said to have threatened to kill the victim and grabbed the steering wheel -attempting to drive into on-coming traffic. The accused and victim attended at the victim’s residence where it is alleged that the accused grabbed a knife and attempted to stab the victim several times.

The accused is charged with one count of attempt murder, one count of threatening death, four counts of breach of recognizance, three counts of assault and one count of criminal negligence.

2) Yesterday morning city police attended at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre and charged Raymond Gregoire, age 26, with the following offences: One count of mischief, one count of theft under $ 5,000., five counts of break and enter. It is alleged that on July 12th the accused broke into Collegiate Heights Retirement Home, located at 95 Fauquier Ave, and once inside the building he further broke into two apartments. It is further alleged that on July 12th the accused attended at the General Hospital and broke in to the nurse’s lounge and a supply room stealing a small amount of cash. On July 13th the accused is alleged to have attended the downtown area where he broke into a vehicle and stole a purse.

3) At approx. 3:45 am this morning city police located an intoxicated youth hiding behind H.M. Robbins School, located at 83 East Balfour St. Upon investigating the youth the officers learned that he was on two recognizance release orders with conditions to not be away from his residence and to not consume alcohol. The accused, a 15-year-old male is charged with two counts of breach of a recognizance.

Female arrested for theft under $ 5,000:

Yesterday evening city police arrested 28-year-old Lisa Lund, of 95 Goulais Ave and charged her with one count of theft under $ 5,000. It is alleged that on July 6th the accused attended at the No Frills Store, located at 519 Korah Rd. and stole several chocolate bars. Ms Lund will be appearing in court on Aug 17th at 9:00 am.

Property Crimes:

Break and enter:


A residence in the 500 bloc of Lake St. was entered – it is unknown at this time what was taken.

Theft:

Bicycles were stolen from the 100 block of Glen Ave and the 100 block of Estelle Ave.
Vehicles parked in the 600 block of MacDonald Ave, the 500 block of Korah Rd and the 100 block of Farquhar St. were entered. Stolen were tools, electronic equipment and loose change.
A purse was stolen from a shopping cart in the Wal-Mart Store, 446 Great Northern Rd.

Mischief:

A residence in the 500 block of Parliament St. was egged yesterday.
A mailbox at a residence in the 900 block of Goulais Ave was damaged.
The windows on the bus shelter located at Trunk Rd. and Shannon Rd. were damaged. A male suspect was seen leaving the area. The suspect is described as: Male, in his teens, wearing jeans, a dark shirt and a baseball cap. He may have been carrying a golf club.
