VICIOUS YOUNGSTERS ARRESTED
On January 31, 2003, at approximately 11:45 pm, the accused a 12-year-old male and co-accused a 14-year- old male assaulted a 13-year-old male by pushing, and punching with closed fists and kicking causing bruising and swelling to the head.

The accused and co-accused assaulted the victim first at John Street near Bainbridge and then a second time on John Street near St. Georges after chasing and catching up to him. The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Both the accused and co-accused are on conditions to abstain from associating and communicating directly or indirectly with each other. Patrol officers were able to locate the 14-year-old accused yesterday at approximately 10:10 am and they executed an arrest warrant on him. He was in custody and in the holding cells at the Court House at the time.

The 14-year-old has been charged with two counts of Assault and Failing to Comply with his Undertaking. He will appear in bail court today. The 12-year-old youth had previously been arrested and charged on February 2nd with Assault causing Bodily Harm and Failing to Comply with his Undertaking.


ERRATIC DRIVING
Yesterday at 12:30 pm, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received a complaint that a male was driving his 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier westbound on Wellington Street East from East Highway in an erratic manner.

At this time his driving was to the point he posed an immediate danger to himself and others. The complaint advised that the male was all over the roadway and nearly caused several head on collisions. Patrol officers stopped the car and spoke to the driver. He appeared disorientated and thought he was in Ottawa.

Police officers voluntarily took the 56-year-old male to the Sault Area Hospital, where he was admitted. Police contacted his family in Ottawa and learned that he has been recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's. The family will be coming to Sault Ste. Marie from Ottawa to pick him up.


ATTEMPTED SUIDICE
Yesterday at 5:00 pm, patrol officers were busy with another mental health issue. The ex girlfriend of a 30-year-old male contacted police and advised that her ex boyfriend had called her stating that he was saying good bye and was going to take pills to hurt himself.

Patrol officers went to the man's residence and apprehended him under the Mental Health Act for his own safety. He was transported to hospital by ambulance for treatment.


PAINT BALLERS ARRESTED
Last evening at shortly after 11:00 pm, police received several calls from residents in the east end that persons in a car were firing paint balls at homes as they drove by.

One complaint advised police that a paint ball broke a window in his home. Subsequently patrol officers checked a suspect vehicle on Pim Street and seized a paint ball gun and arrested 4 young persons in relation to the paint ball shootings.

At 11:32 pm, officers arrested and charged a 17-year-old female and a 21-year-old male from MacDonald Ave. and a 17-year-old male and a 19-year-old female from Williams Street with Mischief, Careless use of a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm Dangerous to the Public.

The 19-year-old female was later released unconditionally, while the remaining accused will appear in court at the end of April on these charges.


BREAK & ENTERS
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is currently investigating three break and enter reports. On March 26th at 5:12 pm, police were advised a residence in the 200 block of Hudson Street was broken into.

At 8:44 pm a homeowner on Clearview Drive advised police that his home had been entered.

At 10:11 pm, police were advised that a break-in had occurred to a home on Elliot Road sometime between 6:00 pm and the time of the report. Thieves gained entry to the home by forcing a window and stole a VCR, along with other items.
