A 45 year-old male was arrested on the 5th of March at 10:50 pm at his residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 5th of March at 9:30 pm the accused assaulted his girlfriend outside his residence by pushing her to the ground. The victim received non-life threatening injuries. The accused is to appear in court on the 2nd of April.

Shoplifting from Sears

37 year-old Frank Schmitz of 53 Biggings Avenue was arrested on the 5th of March at 12:55 pm at Sears in the Station Mall and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 5th of March at approximately 11:55 am the accused attended at Sears and stole men’s clothing valued at $171.00. The accused was apprehended by store security and held for police. The accused is to appear in court on the 7th of April.

UPDATE: Traffic delays as a result of transport trailer collision overnight:

As a result of the motor vehicle collision involving the transport trailer overnight, city police would like to advise the public that there will be traffic delays in the area of Highway 17 East (B) where the new by-pass meets Trunk Road. The westbound lanes will remain open while the eastbound lanes will be closed.
The eastbound traffic will be intermittently allowed to proceed with police directing traffic at this location.
A crane will be utilized to remove the transport from the south side embankment of Trunk Road. This will commence at approximately 11 am this morning and may take two to three hours.

Please be extra cautious while driving in the area.

Single Motor Vehicle Collision

City police responded to a single motor vehicle collision involving a transport trailer last evening at 12:50 am that resulted in the driver being sent to hospital by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries.
It is alleged that the 28 year-old male driver of the transport was travelling westbound on Highway 17 East when he failed slow and to negotiate the right turn onto Trunk Road and continued on across Trunk Road and struck the utility pole on the south side. The transport continued on into the bush line area and travelled down the embankment. There were two persons in the transport at the time of the accident.
The 31 year-old male passenger was not injured.
The 28 year-old male driver, Deepinder Dhaliwal of 18 Invitational Road in Brampton, Ontario was charged with one count of careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
The transport remains at the scene until daylight when the appropriate equipment can be brought in to safely remove and tow it.


There were two break and enters that were reported yesterday:

1) A residence on Dryden Avenue was entered sometime between 7:30 am and 4:45 pm on the 6th of March. Some money was reported stolen.

2) The Hard Times Bar on Wallace Terrace was entered sometime overnight on the 5th of March. It is not known what was taken at this time.

One mischief report was taken yesterday:

1) The front window of the Dollarama Store in the Station Mall was broken on the 5th of March at approximately 1:40 am.
