Bail Court Today 1) A 46 year old male will appear in bail court this morning charged with threatening death and criminal harassment. It is alleged the accused did threaten the boy friend of a female whom he had a relationship with in 2005.

1) A 46 year old male will appear in bail court this morning charged with threatening death and criminal harassment. It is alleged the accused did threaten the boy friend of a female whom he had a relationship with in 2005. It is further alleged that the accused harassed his former girl friend by making unwanted phone calls, text messages, communicating with her children and attending at various locations posing as her husband and trying to collect personal information on the victim.

2) 57 year old Norman Ivan Leslie Lapaine of 208 Queen St. East was arrested yesterday and charged with assault with a weapon as well as sexual interference. It is alleged that between the 01 March 2009 and the 31 March 2009 the accused did have some young persons at his apartment where is alleged he threatened a male with a knife in order to get him to drink some alcohol and the it is further alleged that accused did touch a 13 year old female in an inappropriate manner. He will appear in court 15 June 2009.

UPDATE: Pedestrian Collision

City Police continue their investigation into the double pedestrian collision that occurred yesterday on Great Northern Road near Fourth Line. One victim has been flown to a hospital in southern Ontario for treatment of his serious injuries.

GREAT NORTHERN ROAD AND FOURTH LINE EAST RE-OPENED AND UPDATE ON MVC.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police would like to advise that at this time the intersection has been re-opened.

Just after 7 pm a pickup truck was travelling southbound on Great Northern Road. Two male youths attempted to cross Great Northern Road in an easterly direction just south of Fourth Line East and were both struck. Both males have been taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of vehicle was not injured. Officers from Patrol Services and Traffic Services attended at the scene.

Officers from Traffic Services are continuing the investigation and no further details are being released at this time.

Break In

City Police were called to a residential break and enter yesterday to an apartment located in the 300 block of Albert St. west. An X-box and a small amount of money was taken.

Mischief

A vehicle had a windshield smashed out of it while parked in the 100 block of River Rd. yesterday

A vehicle was parked at the rear of a residence in the 400 block of Wellington St East where someone removed the wheel lugs from all four tires.

Theft

A vehicle was entered while parked on Willowdale Ave. Loose change in the drivers compartment was the target of the thief.

Door – to – Door Canvassing

City Police have received numerous calls with regards to persons canvassing on behalf of the Sick Kids Foundation. This is legitimate and canvassers have photo id and prescribed forms for persons to fill out.
