WOMAN ARRESTED FOR THEFT
On April 30th, 2003 at approximately 10:00 pm Heather Rivers, age 29 of 171 Breton Road. went to an apartment on James Street, the residence of an eighty-two-year-old male that she knew.

While visiting there she allegedly stole his wallet with contents off of the kitchen table. She fled the apartment before the male could stop her. She allegedly used the credit card at Wardlaw Fuels shortly thereafter.

Police were contacted but were unable to locate Rivers. Yesterday at 3:00 pm, police officers located Heather Rivers walking along Hudson Street. She was arrested and charged with Theft under $5,000.00. She will appear in court on June 9th.


ARRESTED FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING
Yesterday at 1:10 pm , Arianne Greenwood, age 34 of Hwy 550 drove to a nursery/day care school in the city?s east end to pick up her son. Staff at the school noted that she appeared to be intoxicated and they stopped her from driving.

Police officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Service were notified and they went to the school. Police detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage on her breath and read her a roadside demand for a screening device. Greenwood registered a fail.

At 1:25 pm, patrol officers arrested and charged her with Impaired Driving and Driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in her blood. She was taken to the Police Services Building for further breath tests. Her licence was suspended for 90 bays and she will now have to appear in court on June 9th.


DAUGHTER OUT OF CONTROL
On Friday May 2, at approximately 10:30 pm., the mother of a 14-year-old female called and advised the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service that her daughter was missing.

It was discovered that the female engaged in an argument with her parents the day prior over an incident involving walking the dog without a leash. She then left the residence and did not return overnight.

The parents, at that time, weren't overly concerned about her not coming home. They learned that she did come home in the morning, about 8:15 am, picked up some clothing and then went to school.

The mother went to the girl's high school and determined that she was not there. When the she did not return home after school, the parents became very concerned and police became involved.

Yesterday, at approximately 7:15 pm, officers were dispatched to the Sault Ste. Marie Armories in regards to the 14-year-old missing female. Upon their arrival at the Armories, police were taken to an office where the female was waiting.

It was explained to her that there was an apprehension warrant for her and that she had to go with the officer to the City Police Station where her parents were waiting for her. The police officer noted the youth to be in fine physical condition with no injuries.

She was taken to the police station where she was released to her parents care. After leaving the station, she was taken home by her parents. Once there, she immediately left the residence and fled to the Cambrian Mall followed by her father.

Fearing for her safety, the father, attempted to apprehend her in the Cambrian Mall and a struggle ensued. At 8:10 pm police were called and officers found the female to be struggling violently and screaming.

Police officers arrested the youth to prevent a further breach of the peace. After speaking at length to all parties, the youth was again released unconditionally to the care of her parents.


15-YEAR-OLD-BOY CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT
On Saturday, May 3rd, a 14-year-old female was out with a 15-year-old male from the city's west end. The two, along with friends, were drinking alcohol beverages.

The female and the accused, who were known to each other, were kissing throughout the night. At approximately 10:30 pm, the male accused and the 14-year-old female were alone in the rear yard at a friend's house.

The male began to sexually assault the female victim. Two witnesses in the area repeatedly heard the female saying no to the male. One witness, a 14-year-old male, went outside to find the 15-year-old male sexually assaulting the female despite the fact that she was saying no. At that point, he stopped the assault.

On the evening of May 6th detectives from the Investigation Services Section began an investigation into the matter. Yesterday at 9:30 pm, the accused surrendered himself to detectives at the Police Services Building. The youth was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault and he will appear in court in middle of June.


DOMESTIC DUSPUTE
At 9:51 pm yesterday, patrol officers were called to a residence on Parliament Street for a domestic dispute. Officers learned that a 24-year-old male became upset with his wife and subsequently pushed her around and struck her with a belt.

No immediate medical attention was required. At 10:00 pm, police arrested and charged the male with assault. He will appear in court on June 16th.


MAN CHARGED WITH THEFT
On May 5th, a 26-year-old male from Wellington Street East took his 20-year-old ex-girlfriend's cheque from her mailbox and forged her signature and then cashed the cheque for over $1000.00.

He kept over $500.00 of the money. Yesterday at 6:30 pm, he met the victim at a playground, off of McNabb Street and a verbal argument ensued. The accused then assaulted the victim by punching her in the head. He then followed the female home.

He had threatened the victim by stating; "Don't call the police or I will do you in right now." Police officers were notified and at 9:12 pm last evening they arrested and charged the male with Assault, Theft under $5,000.00, Fraud and Uttering Threats. He will appear in bail court today.


BREAK AND ENTER
Police officers investigated one break-in yesterday. At 12:22 pm, patrol officers were called to an apartment in the 500 block of Morin Street for a break and enter.

The female victim, in her early twenties, stated that her apartment was broken into within the last two days. She has not been there since. She reported that a gray Zenith 25" television with a wide-body style and a distinctive star-shaped burn mark on the top of the case was stolen.

She also noted a VCR, as well as white microwave oven were missing. Upon investigation, police noted that a window had been forced open to gain entry to the apartment.
