Male Arrested for Breaching Release Order and Drug Possession

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 35 year-old Michael Paquin of 817 Peoples Road at 5 am this morning on Wellington Street West and charged him with one count of breach of a release document and one count of possession of a controlled drug.

It is alleged that officers received a call regarding a suspicious male in the area of Wellington Street West and when they checked the accused they found him to be under the influence of alcohol. The accused was on an undertaking order at the time with conditions that he not consume any alcohol and he was subsequently arrested.

At the time of his arrest the accused was found in possession of a small amount of marijuana. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Male Arrested for Possession of Stolen Vehicle Involved in Car Jacking Incident form Toronto Area

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Emergency Services Unit, Investigations Unit and Patrol Services arrested 24 year-old Saad Basith of 2795 Quill Crescent, Mississauga, Ontario on the 2nd of November at 6:35 pm on Bay Street and charged him with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm, one count of possession of a firearm while prohibited, one count of possession of a firearm in a vehicle and one count of breach of probation.

It is alleged that at that time officers found the accused to be in possession of a stolen 2004 Mercedes Benz that was reported taken in a car jacking incident in the Toronto area on the 23rd of October. Officers located a handgun inside the vehicle and discovered that plates on the vehicle were also stolen.

At the time the accused was on a prohibition order with conditions that he not be in possession of any firearms, and further, he did not have a licence to have possession of a firearm.

The accused was also on a probation order with conditions to keep the peace and be good. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Male Arrested for Assault and Breach of Probation

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 30 year-old Elliot Southwind of #8-16 Terry Fox Place at 5:47 am this morning at the police station and charged him with one count of assault and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused was wanted for an incident that took place on the morning of the 13th of October when he allegedly assaulted a male known to him while in the downtown area.

At the time of the incident the accused was on a probation order with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Male Arrested for Failing to Provide Breath Sample

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 24 year-old Kyle Rodgers of 52 Robin Street on the 3rd of November at 12:07 am on North Street and charged him with one count of fail to provide a breath sample.

It is alleged that on the 3rd of November at 12:01 am officers observed a vehicle travelling northbound on Great Northern Road being operated in an erratic manner. Officers stopped and checked the Chev Avalanche on North Street.

At the time officers found the driver, the accused, to be under the influence of alcohol and made a roadside screening device test demand. The accused refused to provide a suitable breath sample and was subsequently arrested. He is to appear in court on 5th of December.

Break and Enter /Theft Reports

• A residence on South Gladstone Avenue was entered around 11:15 pm last evening. Items reported stolen included a Dell laptop some oxycontin medication. The homeowner reported two females, not known to her, leaving the residence with the items. One female was described as wearing a bomber style jacket with a mask on her face. The other had blond hair.

• A residence on Eastern Avenue was entered between 10:30 pm -11:30 pm last evening. Liquor was reported stolen.

• A garage on Nichol Avenue was broken into yesterday afternoon. It is not known at this time if anything was stolen.

• A vehicle was ransacked and a garage entered on Moody Street. A case of beer was reported stolen.

Mischief Report

Four tires were slashed on a vehicle parked at a residence on Alexandra Street.
