Male Wanted for LCBO Shoplifting Incident Arrested

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 40 year-old Clinton Perrault of no fixed address on the 12th of October at 4:57 pm on Canal Drive and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000; one count of breach of probation; and one count of intoxicated in a public place.

It is alleged that on the 12th of October police attended in the area of the boardwalk near Canal Drive regarding the accused being in an intoxicated state. Officers were aware that the accused was wanted in relation to a theft of liquor incident that occurred at the LCBO Store in the Station Mall form the 8th of October.

At the time of the shoplifting incident the accused was on probation with conditions that he not attend any LCBO store in Sault Ste. Marie. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Child Pornography Investigation Results in Charges

On the 11th of October officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Technological Crime Unit and Patrol Services executed a search warrant at 626 Queen Street West (basement apt.) in relation to a child pornography investigation. A laptop computer was seized and a number of child pornography files were identified.

As a result of the investigation conducted by the Technological Crime Unit that commenced on the 6th of July, 2011, officers arrested 24 year-old Matthew Thibodeau of that address and charged him with three counts of possession of child pornography. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Male Arrested for Aggravated Assault

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Investigations Unit arrested 36 year-old Jeff Coleman of 116 Bainbridge Street on the 12th of October at 1:26 and charged him with one count of aggravated assault. The accused was wanted for an incident that occurred at a local bar on the evening of the 17th-18th of March, 2011 when he allegedly, while working as a bouncer at the bar, assaulted a patron by punching him numerous times in the face area. The male victim suffered serious injuries as a result and required surgery. The accused is to appear in court on the 14th of November.

Two Impaired Driving Related Arrests

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 49 year-old Keith Wissell of #513-HWY 552 Goulais River Ontario on the 12th of October at 11:23 pm on Great Northern Road and charged him with one count of consume over the legal limit.

It is alleged that on 12th of October at 11:14 pm officers observed a vehicle on Industrial Park Crescent pulled off onto the side of the roadway. As officers approached, the vehicle drove off. Police activated emergency lights and the vehicle stopped.

The driver (the accused) was found to be under the influence of alcohol and officers conducted a roadside screening device breath test. The driver registered a fail and was subsequently arrested. He is to appear in court on the 14th of November.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 40 year-old Chadwick Gurevitch of 90 Frontenac Street on the 13th of October at 2:36 am on Trunk Road and charged him with one count of consume over the legal limit.

It is alleged that on the 13th of October around 2:28 am officers received a call regarding a possible impaired driver at a local restaurant drive through. Officers attended at checked the vehicle and at the time the driver (the accused) was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

Officers conducted a roadside screening device breath test and the accused registered a fail. The accused was subsequently arrested and is to appear in court on the 14th of November.

Two Males Arrested for Assault

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested two males yesterday morning in relation to an assault incident that took place at a party on the evening of 7th of October. It is alleged that on this date a 17 year-old male youth was assaulted by two males known to him at a field party in the area of the sewage plant on Queen Street East.

One of the accused, an 18 year-old, threatened the victim, struck, punched and pushed him several times and shoved him into a bon-fire. The accused also threw the victim’s hat into the St. Mary’s River and pushed him into the water. The second male accused, a 16 year-old youth, allegedly spat on the victim during the assault.

Officers investigating the incident also discovered that the 18 year-old male has been harassing the victim for some time. As a result, the 18 year-old, Alexander Rennie of #214-2 Silver Birch Drive has been charged with one count of assault, one count of criminal harassment, one count of threaten death or bodily harm and one count mischief. He is to appear in court on the 21st of November.

The 16 year-old male youth was charged with one count of assault. He is to appear in court on the 22nd of November.
