Outstanding Warrants

The only bail court entry this morning is 33 year-old Renee Chakasim of #219-345 St. Georges Avenue East was arrested on an outstanding warrant at the city police station on the 18th of October at 12:40 am and charged with one count of fail to appear court from the 13th of August and one count of breach of a release document for failing to notify the city police of her change in address.

Consume Over Leagal Limit

26 year-old Ronald Ledwell of 707 Eureka Street in Sault Ste Marie Michigan was arrested on the 18th of October at 12:22 am at Canada Customs on Huron Street and charged with one count of consume over legal limit. It is alleged that on the 18th of October just after midnight, the accused was driving his vehicle into Canada from the States and was stopped and checked by Canadian Customs officers. The accused registered a fail on a roadside screening device that was conducted by the custom officers and he was arrested. He is to appear in court on the 19th of November.

Three Female Youths Arrested

Three female youths were arrested at a west end residence on the 17th of October at 9:30 am after attending at one of the youth’s residence at approximately 9:20 am and forcing their way in. A rear door was damaged and two of the youths entered the residence. A parent, that was inside the home at the time, called police.
The 13 year-old daughter was charged with one count of mischief under $5,000.00.
A 15 year-old was charged with one count of mischief and one count of unlawfully in a dwelling house.
The other 15 year-old was charged with one count of unlawfully in a dwelling house, two counts of breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and one count of breach of a release document for failing to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
All three are to appear in court on the 27th of November.

Several Charges for 17 Year Old

A 17 year-old youth was arrested on the 17th of October at 5:49 pm at the city police station by detectives that have concluded their investigation into three separate
incidents involving the accused and stolen vehicles. As a result, the accused was charged with three counts of theft over $5,000.00 and three counts of possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged that the accused stole a 1995 Ford Ranger from City Centre Motors on Great Northern Road on the 16th of July. It is further alleged that some time between the 14th of July and the 19th of July the accused stole a 1997 Ford F150 from an apartment complex parking lot on Trunk Road and that some time between the 1st of July and the 26th of July the accused attended at his own residence and stole a 1988 BMW belonging to one of his parents. The accused is to appear in court on the 20th of November.

Cab Driver Robbed

City police were called by a Checker Cab driver last night around 4:36 am that advised he was just robbed by a female fare that he had picked up on Abbott Street. The cab driver advised that the female wanted to be taken to the bypass area. When the cab got to the area of the alley near Northland Road and Parliament Street the female asked him to stop. The female stated to the driver that she was sorry but she had to rob him. At the time she was carrying a small baton type bat or club. No money was obtained but she did steal the cab driver’s Nokia cell phone. The driver was not physically injured and the baton was not used in any way. The female was last seen running northbound on Northland Road.
The female was described as being in her 20’s, wearing a dark jacket, grey hoodie and dark pants. Officers checked the area with negative results.

Attempted Break and Enter at Rocky Laundromat

City police attended to an attempt break and enter at the Rocky Laundromat on Gore Street around 12:19 am. A witness reported seeing three youths all dressed in dark clothing attempting to break in. When officers arrived the youths were gone from the area and they discovered glass on the front door smashed. It did not appear entry was gained. Officers checked the area with negative results.

Break and Enter- Third Line

A break and enter was reported to a residence on Third Line West yesterday that occurred between the hours of 1:20 pm and 5:15 pm. A Sony Surround System and some jewellery were reported stolen. Neighbours reported seeing a suspicious vehicle in the area during that time. The vehicle was described as an older blue el camino or ranchero type, possibly a Chev or Ford.
