Earlier Release:

Last evening around midnight city police was called to an east end residence in regards to a disturbance involving a possible fight. When officers attended they found a 40 year-old male to be severely beaten inside the residence. It is alleged that three persons that were at the residence assaulted him. It appeared that a party had been taking place, all persons had been drinking heavily and are all known to each other. The victim was transported to hospital by ambulance and still remains there.


All three persons, two male adults and one female adult, were arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault. This investigation is currently ongoing by Investigation Services and no other details will be released at this time.
The three arrested and charged in connection with this assault are as follows:
1) 57 year-old Wilfred Waboose of no fixed address
2) 36 year-old Clifford Neveau of 270 St. James Street
3) 30 year-old Annie Sutherland of #212-27 Terry Fox Place
They are to appear in bail court on the 25th of October.

Officers from the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Patrol and Emergency Services Unit were called to the Sault Area Hospital this morning at 8:30 am regarding an 81 year-old male that had attended there with a gun. Officers responded and the male was arrested at 9:09 am and taken into custody. The male received non-life threatening injuries at the time of his arrest.
The SIU (Special Investigations Unit) has been called in to investigate. There are no further details being released at this time.

The following two persons will b e appearing in bail court this morning regarding domestic related incidents:

1) A 48 year-old male was arrested at his downtown residence on the 24th of October at 8:30 pm and charged with one count of assault, one count of assault with a weapon, one count of threaten death or bodily harm, one count of breach of probation and five counts of breach of a release document. It is alleged that on the 23rd of October at approximately 9:30 pm the accused assaulted his common-law spouse at her residence by punching her in the arm and face and biting her. It is further alleged that the accused brandished a knife at her and threatened to kill her. The victim received non-life threatening injuries. At the time of the incident the accused was on a court order not to attend at the victim’s residence, not to communicate, molest, harass or annoy her, to notify the Sault Ste Marie Police Service of any change of address and to refrain from the consumption of alcohol. It is alleged that the accused was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the domestic incident and that he has moved since being placed on the order. The accused is also on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

2) A 34 year-old male was arrested on the 24th of October at 11:30 pm on Trunk Road and charged with one count of threaten death or bodily harm and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 24th of October at around 11:24 pm the accused attended at his girlfriend’s residence, got into a verbal argument with her and threatened to kill her. At the time of the incident the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

Assault Charges

A 32 year-old male was arrested on the 24th of October at 1:00 pm at the city police station and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 24th of October the accused assaulted a male that was known to him by punching him in the face three times. The assault took place in a parking lot of a business on Northern Avenue while the victim was sitting in his vehicle. Further investigation revealed that this incident was domestic related and that the victim is the current boyfriend of the accused male’s ex-girlfriend. He is to appear in court on the 26th of November.

The following break and enters were reported yesterday:

1) The Heat Flex building on Fifth Line East was entered. It unknown if anything was taken.

2) There was an attempt break and enter to a residence on St. Andrew’s Terrace.

3) A garage and shed were entered on Hussey Street – it is unknown when this occurred and if anything was taken.

4) An apartment on Queen Street East was entered sometime on the 24th of October. DVD’S, two bottles of pop and some alcohol were reported stolen.
