Four Counts of Breach

A 21 year-old male was arrested on the 1st of April at 12:35 am at a west end residence and charged with four counts of breach of a release document. It is alleged that on the evening of the 31st of March the accused attended at the west end residence of a female that he was on a recognizance order to remain away from and not communicate with, resulting from a previous domestic related incident. When officers were dealing with the accused they discovered that he was under the influence of alcohol and was on further conditions that he abstain absolutely from the possession or consumption of alcohol. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Child Pornography Charges

31 year-old Jason Elliott of 11043 Apt#204 - 108 Street, Edmonton Alberta was arrested by the Sault Ste Marie Police Service on the 31st of March at 4:55 am at the Edmonton Remand Centre in Edmonton, Alberta on outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court in April of 2001 in relation to possession of child pornography and the production of child pornography charges from September of 2000. The accused was transported back to Sault Ste Marie and is to appear in bail court this morning.

Assault

A 16 year-old female youth was arrested at her west end residence on the 31st of March at 4:40 pm and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 31st of March just after 8 am the accused assaulted sister at a local High School by pushing her and slapping her in the face. No injuries were reported. The accused is to appear in court on the 29th of April.

Two Charged with Theft Under $5,000

1) 26 year-old Christina Wesley of 16 Hughes Street was arrested on the 31st of March at 10:20 pm at her residence and charged with two counts of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 23rd of March at 1 am the accused attended at the Mac’s Mart on Gore Street and stole a mobile cell phone. At approximately 5:30 am on the same date, the accused returned back to the same store and stole another mobile cell phone. Both theft incidents were captured on store video surveillance cameras. The accused is to attend court on the 5th of May.

2) 63 year-old Grace D’Angelo of 14 Palace Drive was arrested on the 31st of March at 11:15 am at Canadian Tire on McNabb Street and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 31st of March just after 11 am the accused attended at Canadian Tire and stole various hardware items. The accused was apprehended by store security and held for police. She is to attend in court on the 5th of May.


There were two break and enters reported yesterday:

1) A residence on Coulson Avenue was entered sometime between 10 am and 2:15 pm on the 31st of March. It is not known what was taken at this time.

2) A residence on Patrick Street was entered sometime between 2:45 pm and 3:05 pm on the 31st of March. A portable barbecue, cash and some medication was reported stolen.

Mischief

One mischief report was taken yesterday to a residence on John Street. A window was broken. The homeowner reported that the window may have been broken by some youths that were in the area at the time.

Assistance in Locating Missing Person

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is seeking the assistance of the public in locating a 18-year old male who is developmentally delayed.

18-year old Benoit Cantin was last seen the downtown area. He is an 18-year old male, 6’1” tall, slim build, approximately 195 pounds. He was last seen wearing a navy blue fleece zip sweater, blue pants and white running shoes. He has short brown hair and wears glasses.
