The following two accused will be appearing in bail court today.

1) Yesterday afternoon city police were called to the Duty Free Shop, located at 127 Huron St .regarding a robbery. It is alleged that at approx. 4:00 pm a male person entered the Duty Free Shop and concealed two cartons of cigarettes under his jacket. The suspect then proceeded to leave the store without paying for the items. When he was stopped by a store employee the accused assaulted the employee. The accused was subsequently subdued and arrested. Charged with one count of robbery and two counts of breach of probation is Shawn Holder, age 35, of 137 East St. Apt # 204. The employee did not require medical attention for his injuries.

2) Last evening at approx. 11:00 pm city police were called to a west end residence regarding an assault. Upon arrival officers spoke to the victim and observed her to be bleeding from a cut to her mouth. Information was received from the victim during the month of October she was assaulted by her common-law boyfriend several times. The assaults consisted of her being punched in the face, bitten on the cheek and thrown against the walls. As a result the accused, a 30-year-old male was arrested and charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm and one count of assault. The victim did not attend for medical attention.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service investigated two reports of break and enter overnight.

A break -in was reported to a residence in the 400 block of Albert St.W. Entry took place at approx. 2:50am. It is unknown what was taken at this time. Another break-in was reported to a residence in the 100 block of River Rd. Thieves stole jewellery and children’s Christmas presents. This incident occurred between 12:00 pm and 3:30 pm yesterday afternoon. Anyone that may have seen any suspicious persons in the area are asked to contact the city police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
City police also received one complaint of mischief yesterday. A residence in the 100 block of Wellington St. E. had a rear window broken.

Fail to Appear

Yesterday afternoon city police arrested 24-year-old Louise Desmoulin of 320 Albert St. E. Apt # 1 and charged her with one count of fail to appear for prints. The accused will be appearing in court today.
