Update on Motor Vehicle Fatality Sunday evening just after 8pm the Sault Ste. Marie City Police along with the Ontario Provincial Police, the Sault Ambulance and the Sault Ste Marie Fire Services responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision.
Update on Motor Vehicle Fatality

Sunday evening just after 8pm the Sault Ste. Marie City Police along with the Ontario Provincial Police, the Sault Ambulance and the Sault Ste Marie Fire Services responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision. The collision which occurred just north of 6th Line on Great Northern Road claimed the life of 18year old Ashley Williams of Sault Ste Marie. The initial investigation has determined that a 1999 dodge caravan driven by Miss. Williams was traveling south bound on Great Northern Road, when it struck a north bound semi tractor trailer. Both vehicles in this collision sustained severe damage.

The investigation is still ongoing and the City Police are requesting any witnesses to come forward by contacting 949-6300 ext. 382

Two Charged with Breach

21 year old Eric Richard Richer of 721 Second Line West and 21 year old Ernie Raymond Richer of 1329 Peoples Road have been arrested and charged with 2 counts of breach of recognizance. Both individuals are on conditions to be in their residence between 9pm and 6am and both are on conditions to abstain from communication or association directly or indirectly with each other. Eric and Ernie were observed together by police walking south on People’s Road just after 10:30pm last night. Both males are appearing in bail court this morning. (Both names are correct)

Female Charged with Four Counts of Breach

Also appearing in bail court this morning is a 40 year old female. It’s believed that the accused attended at the residence of an ex-boyfriend after consuming alcohol, then taking the victim’s keys and refusing to give them back. The accused was on conditions to remain away from that residence, abstain from communicating with the male, abstain from alcohol and not molest harass or annoy the male. Police were called and the accused was arrested at 11pm. She has been charged with 4 counts of breaching her recognizance.

Impaired Driving

63 year old Luigi Pagnotta of 39 Northern Avenue has been charged with 1 count of impaired driving and 1 count of consuming alcohol over the legal limit. The Sault Ste Marie City police were called yesterday just before 11pm in regards to a vehicle in the snow bank at the corner of Pine Street and Northern Avenue. Officers attended and found the driver of that vehicle to be under the influence of alcohol. Officers arrested the male and he will be appearing in court on the 7th of January.

Theft under $5,000

34 year old Janie Doskas of 37 Broadview Drive has been charged with 1 count of theft under $5000. It is believed that the accused attended at Sears Department Store on Bay Street and was observed by store employees exiting the store without making any attempt at paying for $293.96 worth of merchandise. Police were called and the accused was arrested and is to appear in court on the 14th of January.

Male Charged with 1 Count of Breach

43 year old Mike Cuglietta has been charged with 1 count of breach of recognizance and 1 count of fail to appear court. The accused attended at the police station yesterday and turned himself in for failing to appear for court where it was found he had changed addresses and had fail to notify this change thus breaching his release document. He is now scheduled to attend court on the 21st of January.

Male Charged with Theft

36 year old Scott Michael Erdman of 260 Wellington Street West Apt# 4 has been charged with 1 count of theft. It is believed that the accused on November 30th attended at Wardlaw Fuels and took 2 packets of gum from the store then left without paying. The accused was located on Wellington Street West yesterday morning just after 10 and arrested. He is scheduled to appear in court on the 21st of January.

There was 1 report of a break and enter reported over the last 24 hrs.

A home in the 200 block of Letcher Street was entered between Saturday afternoon and yesterday morning. Taken from the residence was a T.V and D.V.D Player.
