DRUGS AGAIN At approximately 1:00 this morning 4 people were arrested after being checked outside a local bar on Great Northern Road.
DRUGS AGAIN
At approximately 1:00 this morning 4 people were arrested after being checked outside a local bar on Great Northern Road. Arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) is Christopher Daynard, age 26 of 328 Queen Street East, Melissa Rita Fortin age 22 of 139 Church Street and Luke Whalen age 23 of 139 Church Street.

All 3 accused persons will appear in court on February 23rd. The fourth person arrested and charged is Kristopher Garson age 23 of 85 Abel Street, Smiths Falls. It is alleged that Mr. Garson was in possession of a large quantity of pills believed to be “Ecstasy”. He will appear in bail court this morning on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

THEFT & ESCAPE CHARGES
A Sault Ste. Marie man will also be appearing in bail court this morning. Roger Vienneau, 27-years-old of 130 Albert Street West is charged with theft under $5000 and escaping lawful custody.

It is alleged that in early January Mr. Vienneau was at the Brick store on Second Line West and took a palmcorder from there. When confronted by a store employee Mr. Vienneau struggled with the employee and then left the area.

FENDER BENDERS
A motor vehicle accident on Lake Street resulted in an 18 year-old man being charged under the highway traffic act. Brandon Brown of 39 Ferguson Avenue was driving south on Lake Street when he rear-ended a vehicle being driven by 40-year-old Paula Greco, who was stopped on Lake Street waiting to make a Left turn onto Caesar Road. Mr. Brown is charged with Following Too Closely. Mr. Brown’s vehicle sustained light damage while the Greco vehicle received severe damage. The accident occurred at 4:08 pm.

A car accident at 5:27 pm at the intersection of Second Line West and Farwell Terrace resulted in 48-year-old Nancy Clouthier of 20 Arden Street being charged with Turn not in safety. Mrs. Clouthier was driving east on Second Line, attempted to make a left turn onto Farwell Terrace when a vehicle that was being driven west on Second Line by Margaret Fantham of 911 Second Line West struck her vehicle. There was minor damage to the Clouthier vehicle and moderate damage to the Fantham vehicle.

At 6:01 pm Howard Sharp, age 75 of 215 Farquhar Street was driving his van south on North Street when he attempted to make a left turn in front of a vehicle that was north bound on North Street. The 2 vehicles collided in the intersection of North St. and St. Georges Avenue. Mr. Sharp was charged with Left turn- fail to afford opportunity to avoid a collision. His vehicle received light damage while the second vehicle, being driven by Lucas Elwgren, age 29 of 9 Newcastle Drive received severe damage
