Break and Enter Suspect Apprehended by Homeowners:
At approximately 2:52 am this morning a homeowner on Wiber Street woke up when the dog started barking and discovered that two males had just broken into the home. When he confronted them, one fled on foot out the back door dropping a purse and camera. The second male was detained by the homeowner with the assistance of other family members. Police attended and the male was arrested. One of the family members was injured and received medical attention as result of being bitten on the arm by the accused.
A 16 year-old male youth has been charged with one count of break, enter and commit, one count of assault and three counts of breach of probation. He is to appear in bail court this morning.
Male Arrested for Breaking into the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy:
City police responded to an alarm last evening at 1:10 am at the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy located on Second Line West at Korah Road. Upon police arrival, a male was observed exiting an east window of the pharmacy. The suspect fled on foot, but was apprehended a short time later in the area of Selby Road with the assistance of the Canine Unit. A bag containing pharmaceutical drugs and a small amount of cash that officers had observed being discarded by the accused when fleeing was recovered in the parking lot. A crowbar was also located and seized by police.
Charged with one count of break, enter and commit, one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of possession of housebreaking tools is 19 year-old Jesse Marrello of 705 Mackenzie Avenue.
He is to appear in court on the 8th of September.
Male Arrested For Obstructing Police:
City police were called to a loud party noise disturbance call at approximately 11:30 last night that resulted in one male being charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and two counts of resist or obstruct peace officer. It is alleged that when police were dealing with one of the males at the party and attempting to arrest him another male obstructed them and attempted to pull the male from the officers. When officers attempted to arrest him he continued to pull away and struggled with them. The accused was found in possession of approximately 4 grams of marijuana at the time of his arrest.
Charged is Jeffrey Williams of #608-134 Breton Road. He is to appear in court on the 8th of September.
Suspicious Male Youth Apprehended by City Police:
A 16 year-old male youth was arrested at 4:19 am this morning on Parkland Crescent and charged with one count of trespassing at night. It is alleged that around 4:10 am city police were called to the area of Parkland Crescent for a complaint of a youth going through vehicles in that area. When officers arrived they located the youth running and located him a short time later lying in the grass at a residence in the area.
He is to appear in court on the 2nd of September.
Property Crimes:
Mischief Reports:
1) Two youths damaged a door of a vehicle when prying it open lasts night around 3:50 am. The owner observed two youths running from the scene.
2) Glass on a side door of a residence on Hudson Street was smashed on the 28th of July around 9:54 pm.
3) Two windows of a residence on Goulais Avenue were damaged by a possible pellet gun.
4) A vehicle parked at an apartment complex in the 600 block of Bay Street was damaged sometime over this past weekend when someone jumped on the roof, denting it.
5) Vehicles parked at the John Rhodes Centre were damaged sometime during the day yesterday.
6) A picnic table that was outside at the Cambrian Mall was damaged sometime yesterday.
There was a report of a break and enter reported to Kelly’s Parkway Service Centre on Second Line West at Korah Road that occurred sometime overnight from the 27th-28th of July. Nothing was reported taken.
Vehicles were entered and gone through on Great Northern Road, Eastern Avenue, Wiber Street, Birchwood Street and McNabb Street. Two purses and some change were reported stolen.
A 10 speed red, white and silver bike was stolen from the underground parking area of a complex in the 100 block of Macdonald Avenue.
