Two arrested after weapons and drug seizure in Garden River

Officers from the Garden River Detachment of Anishinabek Police Service have arrested and charged two individuals with multiple offences related to weapons and drugs.

On Thursday, April 24, officers were advised of two suspicious vehicles in the vicinity of Bell Street and Jardun Mine Road. When officers approached, both vehicles fled the area. One vehicle was subsequently located and stopped, leading to two arrests and the seizure of a number of prohibited weapons and drug paraphernalia.

A 31-year-old man from Garden River was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of Prohibited Device or Ammunition for Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
  • Breach of Recognizance (six counts)
  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking (seven counts)

A 26-year-old woman from Sault Ste. Marie was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Other Drugs
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order – other than to attend court (four counts)

Both individuals were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
