A 31-year-old was arrested on Valentine’s Day in connection with a petty crime spree that began eight days earlier.
On Feb. 6, Sault Police say a person smashed a headlight in the 200 block of Huron Street after being asked to leave the property.
Six days later, on Feb. 12, someone called 911 to report a break-and-enter at an outbuilding on Third Line West. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.
Two days after that, on Feb. 14, police say a shoplifter tried to bolt from a business in the 200 block of McNabb Street without paying for $400 worth of items. The suspect was apprehended by security officers and later placed under arrest.
Jeffery Humphries, 31, is charged with:
- Break and Enter – Commit Indictable Offence
- Theft Under $5,000 x2
- Mischief Under $5,000 x3
- Failure to Comply with Probation Order x3
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Humphries is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
