Two Charged in Domestic City police attended at a West-end residence just after midnight regarding a domestic dispute involving a 29 year-old female and an 18 year-old male living in a common law relationship.
Two Charged in Domestic

City police attended at a West-end residence just after midnight regarding a domestic dispute involving a 29 year-old female and an 18 year-old male living in a common law relationship. The male was arrested and charged with one count of assault. The female was charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of breach of a release document. It is alleged that the two argued and became involved in a physical altercation that involved kicking and punching each other. During the altercation it is alleged that the female slashed the male in the face area with a knife. Both parties received minor injuries, not requiring medical attention. They will be appearing in bail court this morning.

Criminal Harassment of Ex-Girlfriend

A 37 year-old male was arrested for criminal harassment on the 17th of April at 9 am at the city police station. It is alleged that the accused for the past few days has continuously attended at his ex-girlfriend’s west-end residence unwanted. The male had also made numerous phone calls and has been following her. He will be appearing on bail court this morning.

Two House Fires

1) At 12:24 this morning the Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services and Police Services responded to a house fire in the 400 block of Wallace Terrace. It appears that the fire was set to some garbage that was outside at the rear of the home. One resident was inside the residence at the time but was able to leave without receiving any injuries. The fire does appear to be suspicious, possibly arson, and officers from the Investigation Services are currently investigating this incident. Anyone with any information regarding this fire is asked to contact City Police at 949-6300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

2) Officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Fire, Police and Ambulance Services also attended at another house fire in the 400 block of Wellington Street. The fire occurred in an upper unit of a multiplex apartment. This fire is currently under investigation, but does not appear suspicious at this time. One person was transported to Sault Area Hospital for smoke inhalation type injuries.

Break & Enters

1) A residence on First Avenue was entered on the 17th of April between 11 am and 7:30 pm. Jewellery was reported stolen.

2) A residence in the 200 block of Wellington Street East was entered on the 17th of April between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm. Jewellery and computer parts were reported stolen.
