On February 12, the staff of a store on Bruce Street called the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service to complain a that a male had left the store and had taken two gift certificates, valued at $100.00 and $50.00.

On February 14 at approximately 3:00 pm, the male went to another outlet of the store and was in possession of the two gift certificates, attempting to cash them in.

A detailed description of the suspect was provided to detectives and yesterday at 11:15 am they arrested and charged Terry Jackson, age 42 of 78 Grace Street with two counts each of Theft Under $5,000.00 and Possession of Stolen Property. He will appear in court April 14th.


FEMALE ASSAULTS WOMAN
On October 29, 2001, the accused, Tabatha Vienneau, age 22, allegedly assaulted the victim, a 19-year-old female. The accused allegedly assaulted the victim once at an apartment in the 700 block of Second Line West by punching her in the back of the head.

The accused then assaulted the victim for a second time at a residence on Goulais Avenue. The accused was arrested on the November 1, 2001, and charged with Assault. She was released to appear in court.

On the March 11, 2002, Vienneau was arrested by police on the execution of an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court. She was again released under the condition she appear in court.

She failed to comply with this condition. Yesterday at 1:30 pm, patrol officers located Vienneau at a residence on Wellington Street East. A police records check revealed that the accused was wanted on outstanding warrants for the Assault charges and for two counts of Failing to Appear in Court. The arrest warrants were executed and she will appear in bail court today.


SEVERAL AUTOMOBILE CHARGES
Yesterday at approximately 7:20 pm, officers observed a 1983 Chevrolet Celebrity proceeding south on Blucher Street. The vehicle was checked and driver of the vehicle was identified as Drew Boyer, age 34 of 101 Murphy Street.

Patrol officers noted the driver to be demonstrating signs of alcohol impairment. Officers arrested and charged Boyer with Impaired Driving. He was transported to the Police Services Building and processed. He will appear in court April 7th.

Boyer was also served two Provincial Offences Court Summons for using plates not authorized for a motor vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act and driving with no insurance under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.


BOY ARRESTED FOR TRESPASSING BY NIGHT
Last evening at 8:15 pm, patrol officers executed an arrest warrant on a 16-year-old male for Trespassing at Night from an incident that occurred last year.

Last year the youth had been located in a vacant house and was subsequently charged with the offense. When the youth failed to comply with the terms set out in an alternatives measures program an arrest warrant was issued. He will appear in court in early April.


DRUG BUST
On or about February 23, Curtis Carey, age 38 of #2-181 James Street allegedly telephoned Merritt's Pharmacy located at 314 Wellington Street West and identified himself not as Curtis Carey but as a family physician.

As the doctor, Carey ordered three prescriptions being Ranitidine, Effexor and Diazapam. The order was made for a William MacDonald. Yesterday, Carey, now identifying himself as William MacDonald, telephoned Merritt's Pharmacy advising he would be in to pick up his prescription for 120 Diazapam pills (only the Diazapam pills).

At approximately 2:00 pm Curtis Carey went to Merritt's Pharmacy and identified himself as William MacDonald while attempting to pick up his prescription of Diazapam (valium) a schedule IV drug under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.

Joint Forces Drug Unit Officers arrested and charged Carey for Fraud, Attempt Possession of a Controlled Drug and two counts of Personation. He will appear in bail court today.


DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE
This morning at 3:30 am police officers were dispatched to a residence on Grosvenor Ave. for a domestic disturbance. Officers noted that a 21-year-old female had assaulted her 22-year-old boyfriend by smashing a beer bottle over his head.

He received minor injuries. Officers arrested and charged the female with Assault with a Weapon. She will appear in court April 14th.


BREAK AND ENTER
Yesterday morning staff from Merv Mathewson Office Supply on James Street advised that the business had been broken into. The business was secured on March 3rd at 5:00 pm and the staff noted the break-in at 8:30 am on March 4th.

Investigation revealed thieves pried the rear door open and entered the business. Nothing appeared to have been stolen. The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on this matter is asked to contact the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at 949-6300 or Crimestoppers.


TRAFFIC ACCIDENT SENDS THREE TO HOSPITAL
Yesterday the Police Service investigated 15 motor vehicle collisions. Most were of a minor nature. However, at 8:46 am, patrol officers were called to a motor vehicle collision with injuries on Queen Street East near Parkdale Drive.

The investigation revealed that Carolyn Nicholson, age 48 of Parkdale Drive was driving a 1992 Mazda 4 door sedan west on Queen Street in the centre westbound travel lane when it was struck head on by an east bound 1988 Toyota 2 door car.

The Toyota, which was being driven by Bradley Nickle of 1520 Queen St. East, had been east bound on Queen St. in the centre lane when it lost control and crossed into the oncoming lane where the collision occurred.

Three male passengers, age 22, 23 and 23 in the Nickle vehicle were transported to hospital with minor injures. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
