Assault Charges

A 20-year old male will appear in bail court this morning on domestic related charges. It is alleged that shortly before 2 am the male and his girlfriend got into an argument which resulted in the male grabbing the female and throwing her to the ground and grabbing her by the throat. The male has been charged with one count of assault.

Several Charges

33-year old Clinton Perrault of 3-35 Hughes Street was arrested yesterday afternoon at the Station Mall after he was involved in a couple of incidents at that location. It is alleged that Mr. Perrault stole a bottle of liquor from the LCBO and then caused some damage to the patio area of U-Betcha Tap & Grill by breaking some of the plexiglas. A query by police revealed that the accused was on an undertaking with conditions not to attend at the Station Mall, in addition to being wanted on some outstanding warrants. Mr. Perrault has been charged with one count of mischief, two counts of theft under $5,000 and 2 counts of breach of a release document. He will be appearing in bail court this morning.


Assault With Weapon

43-year old Gordon Stortini of 3-256 Beverly Street will be appearing in court on December 13th after City Police received a complaint regarding him yesterday. It is alleged that the accused threatened to kill a female known to him while holding knife. Mr. Stortini has been charged with one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and one count of assault with a weapon.

Accident On Queen Street

Shortly before 1 pm yesterday afternoon City Police investigated a 3-car accident on Queen Street East in the 800 block. A car traveling eastbound on Queen Street East turned into a driveway in the 800 block of Queen St E. A van behind this car stopped to allow the car to turn. Donelda Carlson-Strain of 107 Williams Street was operating the van. A car operated by Rita Calvert of 779 Pine Street stopped behind the Carlson-Strain van, but was hit from behind by a car operated by Dustin Guay of 51 Rossmore Road. This in turn caused a chain reaction resulting in the Calvert car to hit the back of the Carlson-Strain van. Rita Calvert was taken to the Sault Area Hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The damage to the vehicles is described as moderate to light. Mr. Guay has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with one count of follow to close.

Daytime Break & Enters

City Police receive 2 reports of break and enters yesterday. A home on Boston Avenue was entered and an X-box was taken. A home in the 100 block of Market Street was also entered and it is unknown at this time what was taken. Both break and enters occurred during the daytime hours.
