COMPANY INFORMATION
Wesdome Gold Mines has had over 30 years of continuous gold mining operations in Canada. The Company is 100% Canadian focused with a pipeline of projects in various stages of development. The Company’s strategy is to build Canada’s next intermediate gold producer, producing 200,000+ ounces from two mines in Ontario and Quebec. The Eagle River Complex in Wawa, Ontario is currently producing gold at the Eagle River Underground Mine. Wesdome started production at the Kiena Complex in Val d’Or, Quebec in December 2022. The Company trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol “WDO”.

SUMMARY
Reporting to the Mill Manager, the Senior Metallurgist will play a significant role in providing and promoting the development of technical expertise within the mill operations, as well as promoting Health and Safety in the workplace and compliance with company policies, working with the mill operations, maintenance, and electrical departments to ensure smooth and efficient process operation, and identifying and promoting continuous plant improvements to achieve and surpass metallurgical targets; and reduce operating costs.

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES PERFORMED

  • Provide technical support and coaching to the operations, maintenance, and teams
  • Set plant operating targets, investigate performance variances, and make timely recommendations for corrective actions and improvements.
  • Review and update processing flow diagrams, mass, and water balances.
  • Prepare and develop production reports.
  • Manage grinding media and reagent consumptions and inventories.
  • Collaborate on the development and review of mill operating procedures.
  • Develop and review process control strategies and narratives.
  • Identify and support or manage mill improvement projects.
  • Contribute to the development of yearly production, OPEX, and CAPEX budgets.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-shift to ensure continuous operational support and project progress.
  • Participate in training programs such as Surface Common Core and professional development.
  • Physically capable of carrying/lifting materials and walking/climbing stairs daily.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • University degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Professional Engineering designation preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, and time management skills.
  • Self-motivator, problem solver, and team player.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • 12 hr. shifts
  • 14 day on / 14 day off rotation
  • Location: Eagle River Complex – North of Wawa, Ontario
  • Meals and accommodations are provided while on shift at Eagle River
  • Some travel to Sault Ste. Marie may be required
