PUC Services Inc. operates multiple utilities within and around the City of Sault Ste. Marie, including the distribution of electricity, the supply, treatment and distribution of municipal drinking water, and the operation of wastewater treatment facilities.

As the GIS & Records Technician your duties will include:
• Prepare and maintain system operating maps, drawings and records associated with the installation of utility plans using CAD, GIS and other computer database technologies.
• Conduct activities related to locating underground utility plant for customers both internal and external to the company.
• Assist in the inspection of subdivisions and other projects.
• Perform and /or assist in field service work.
• Revise and maintain up-to-date records, drawings, maps, and schematics.
• As directed, upgrade to Field Services Representative to support the Locates function.
Qualifications:
• At minimum, a post-secondary diploma in an Electrical Engineering Technology program, with a GIS or CAD specialty, or equivalent.
• Experience working in an engineering, municipal or utility workplace for a minimum of five (5) years.
• Sound working knowledge of engineering principles related to electrical or water distribution facilities.
• Strong working knowledge and ability to operate systems, particularly GIS, CAD and database programs.
• Ability to safely use a variety of electronic and mechanical equipment.
• Ability to work independently and to take initiative.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong organizational skills.
• Must hold and maintain a valid Ontario driver’s license.
