We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, unique and talented Funeral Director to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing support to families during their time of loss, arranging and conducting all aspects of a funeral or celebration while also ensuring that all funeral arrangements are handled with the utmost care and professionalism. This role requires a blend of administrative skills, customer service, and the ability to handle physical tasks associated with the funeral process.
Job Type: Full-time, on call rotation, 1 year contract with the potential for extension
Responsibilities
• Guide families through the funeral process in the most respectful and compassionate way while providing guidance and support throughout the grieving process.
• Prepare and file necessary legal documents related to the deceased.
• Coordinate logistics for funerals, including transportation, venue arrangements, and memorial services.
• Oversee the preparation of the deceased for viewing, including embalming and dressing.
• Sales of funeral products and services, ensuring families receive appropriate options.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment at the funeral home.
• Maintain a professional appearance.
• Assist with heavy lifting tasks related to caskets and other equipment as needed.
Experience/Requirements
• Ontario Licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer (Class FD1)
• Previous experience in a funeral home is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service and empathy.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting as required in various aspects of the job.
• Sales experience is a plus, particularly in service-oriented industries.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Funeral software, etc.
• Must possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Valid G class driver’s license, without any restrictions and a clean driver’s abstract
